Newegg has forever lost my business. Amazon from here on out

Over the last two years the decline in customer service from Newegg has been appalling. So much so, I've decided I'm completely done with this company.

For starters, their return policies are now not customer friendly on a variety of different items. For example, many items are not fully refundable and can only be returned back for store credit or a replacement item. I bought a Dell laptop a few months back that was faulty and blue-screening. They had their "techs" look at it and sent it back to me as-is after two weeks. Had to raise hell with their customer service just to get a replacement unit.

Recently ordered a television from them. For some reason my usual credit card would not go through, so I had to place the order on a different card. Wakeup the next day and notice two charges on the card that didn't go through. Call Newegg to handle this and have to go through hell to explain to their customer service rep that I don't want two televisions on my credit card. Had to escalate all the way up to a supervisor just to get someone to cancel it.

The quality of service from this company is deplorable. It is very clear to me now that customer service is not a priority at this company at all, it's all about maximizing profits. At this point there are simply better alternatives out there, namely Amazon. Hands down the best customer service in the business (esp regarding returns) and with Amazon Prime I get super fast shipping on nearly any item I could want.

TLDR: Fuck Newegg.

Yeah as much discipline as it takes to abstain from some of their sales, I just can't take a risk on a retailer like Newegg. I'd rather pay a little more for peace of mind, stick with more reputable options.

Well, I certainly agree that Amazon's service is top notch, the two "charges" on your credit card were almost certainly temp holds, you weren't going to actually get charged for them.

I agree. I stopped shopping there for almost everything (the exception being, they sometimes have really cheap PS3 games I get, but those are not returnable anywhere and they cant really mess up) due to how awful the CS is (in my experience). Amazon is sooo much better. They have incredible CS.

Customer service is king. It's amazing that these companies just don't get this. You treat me well as a customer, you have me for life. I don't even care if I have to pay a little more.

Wrong. There are two legitimate charges on my card right now.

Regarding the ordering issues, I too have had issues with them declining my cards but yet they go though? I had to call my bank and newegg to get it fixed. I agree its irritating.

Descriptions and images are king.

If you deal in anything electronic, you'll find yourself looking at Newegg for images and actual descriptions and then buying from Amazon.

Amazon's descriptions are FAR beyond pathetic.

I will occasionally purchase an item here and there from newegg, only when it's a really good deal. Thankfully I haven't had to deal w/ any bad customer service from them yet.

Most of my purchases are with Amazon b/c of typically lower prices and amazon prime...however w/ tax being charged on Amazon, I'm starting to search newegg a bit more. Hope that I will never have to deal w/ bad service in the future form newegg.

Neweggs layout is best. I shopped exclusively through amazon while I could avoid California state tax with them, now I'm between the two again. But overall just buying less. I've always had good experience from CS with both companies. Haven't had a recent issue with newegg though.

I will typically try and find a "NOCALTAX" code to use when shopping online, not that common though. Overall I just get by with less now instead of paying ~10% tax on already heavily taxed money (30%).

Since I moved to Dallas it's tough to buy from Newegg anymore. I can walk into the local Fry's and they either have similar deals or will match Newegg's pricing. And there is the instant gratification thing.

I think I'm pretty much done with Newegg too. They pissed me off with my last return.

I returned a motherboard that was having compatibility issues. I boxed it up nicely and shipped it back to them. They said it was damaged so they would't take it back and sent it back to me. What I got back was missing the socket cover and a bunch of socket pins were bent. Whoever inspected it must have damaged it and blamed it on me.

well that is order of things in business unfortunately. when business becomes too big to be efficient and puts itself before the customer.

you do good as you have clear vision that gives customer the value. customers like you. business flourishes. at some point, you take customers for granted and start to work on maximizing profits. what happens next?
a. you never learn your lesson, and your business eventually fails or becomes irrelevant
b. you become humble again and cycle goes over again

Whoever is cheaper and since Amazon has sales tax here and Newegg doesn't, it's usually Newegg. Have had no issues with Newegg customer service in the many years that I've used them.

Really? I order from them pretty much weekly at work, no issues.

I love Amazon Prime too, although I'm not liking the growing number of non-Prime third-party items & add-on items that require something else to ship
