I've only ordered something once off them. They shipped my single SD card in a giant box. Still got a picture of it. BD case gives a good idea of the scale of this absurdity. ^_^

I usually buy from NCIX. Mainly because they never used to charge provincial sales tax on orders outside of BC. They're a little more expensive but I've never had problems with them online. Their retail stores on the other hand are staffed by morons. Hey, didn't someone on here work for them?

Yep amazon for most stuff. Even household items. I rarely even go to departmnet stores anymore.

I buy TP, Soap, Vitamins, electronics all from Amazon. Ill start buying cloths from them soon as well I think.

I do use Newegg for finding Items however. I wish Amazon would get better at that.

Also Prime is great. Free Streaming, Free Shipping, Free Kindle rentals, plus all the other perks it comes with.

I used to buy everything on Amazon and get it shipped 2-day via Prime. Now a lot of the items are add-ons only, meaning you have to place an order of $25 or more to even buy that item.

It's made Amazon much less useful to me, although I understand why they do it. I used to do things like notice I was about to run out of deodorant and buy a stick on Amazon prime. It's a wasteful habit and probably not cost effective for Amazon but that was 95% of how I used Amazon.

Amazon: Just buy Newegg already.
Let Newegg stay nearly as it is, with its good filtering and selection tools, and good product image library, all attributes at which your site is sorely lacking, but let them benefit from your logistics network. (Newegg's site even has that awesome feature, first seen many years ago, which lets you choose the number of search items to display on a page.) I especially hate sites where you click the product image, and all you get is a large sub-window that shows the same tiny pictures; I run into this frequently at Amazon. VGA-webcam-resolution went out a long time ago. Even the cameras on low-end cellphones can spit out more pixels.

Then start counting the years until Amazon gets hit with an antitrust lawsuit from the federal government.

i use newegg to find what i want because its easier to compare items.

i then proceed to order from amazon

That's how I usually do it. I will use Newegg; however, if the price is right AND I don't care how long it takes to get the item. Amazon Prime has completely spoiled me.

well that is order of things in business unfortunately. when business becomes too big to be efficient and puts itself before the customer.
Often true, but not always. I haven't bought from newegg in a long time but there is a lot more hate for them now than Amazon. It seems like they forgot who butters their bread, and Amazon hasn't. Despite its massive stature now Amazon still has top tier customer service and is well loved. Newegg is trying to chase some of this and is cutting corners while doing so, a mistake Amazon has not made because it's just a better business with better leadership.

Really? I order from them pretty much weekly at work, no issues.

I love Amazon Prime too, although I'm not liking the growing number of non-Prime third-party items & add-on items that require something else to ship

i order a TON of stuff from amazon and ive never see this

I'm happy I live near a microcenter. For things that they aren't competitive on it is Amazon now.

Last time I bought components from newegg was about 8 years ago. I just sort of gravitated towards Amazon more and more. I never did have a problem with customer service.

I think it had a lot to do with amazon will give you a lot more customer reviews and I usually do read those a lot before I purchase something.

Since I moved to Dallas it's tough to buy from Newegg anymore. I can walk into the local Fry's and they either have similar deals or will match Newegg's pricing. And there is the instant gratification thing.
I don't trust Fry's. They rewrap returned items without testing them and sell them.

The only hassle I've had with NewEgg was a lost shipment which wasn't their fault. It seems it's in to bash on NewEgg but, they've always treated me well. I've nothing against Amazon as I'm a Prime member but, I will continue to buy from NewEgg until they are no longer competitive and/or give me good service. I've been buying from them since 2001.

I've never had any issues with newegg, but then again I've only had to use their customer service once.

Thanks for reminding me. Last week I bought 16GB of RAM from Amazon as they price matched someone else without the hassle of a rebate. I got the memory in 48 hours (about 1/5 the time my Blu-rays from them take), and now I just ordered a graphics card for my aging PC. Again, I saved money without the hassles of rebates or retail.

Go Amazon!

Bought a cellphone from Amazon and it dropped $50 in price the next day. Called them up and in less than a minute got the refund for the price difference. Amazon is much better for customer service.

Have you tried the same thing with NewEgg?

I should note that I have never had any issue with newegg. I think they are a great company still but my experience with them has dropped alot the last year or so.

I haven't purchased from Newegg in over a year...maybe almost two by now. They jerked me around on a $20 rebate which they declined because the item was also on sale. Yet, when I pointed out their product page didn't list this, the CS got snarky, offered me $10 credit and then threatened to suspend my account. Strange.

I get everything through Amazon now. Free 2 day shipping which is always 2 day shipping. Newegg's 3 day shipping is 4-5 day shipping and isn't always cheap. Amazon has better service, too...if not always the best prices.

Newegg's shipping department are a pack of drunken muppets. I got a drive from them that was just a drive in a blister pack and stuck in a box with no other packing. No real shock when that drive died some time later.

I ordered 2 Intel NICs from Newegg. Each in a blister pack shoved into a single large unpadded envelope. I was surprised they were undamaged.

Amazon send everything in bomb proof boxes. Drives are always shipped in foam cradles and in their own boxes.

I stopped ordering from Newegg when they tried to charge me a restocking fee on a defective item. That was a few years ago.

Descriptions and images are king.

If you deal in anything electronic, you'll find yourself looking at Newegg for images and actual descriptions and then buying from Amazon.

Amazon's descriptions are FAR beyond pathetic.

 And why the hell can't they come up with better search/sort options?!

On a side note I've noticed that Amazon 2-day shipping is much better than Shoprunner 2 day shipping. Shoprunner always seems to be 2 full days after you purchased it (so the date of order doesn't count) while with Amazon I have a good chance of getting it the following day if I purchase it early enough

I've dropped probably >$10k at Newegg the last year. Only problem I've had is that they are the only online retailer that triggers fraud alert on my CC, every damn time

9 times out of 10 these "newegg sucks!" complaints are due to customer error, not newegg's fault. NO, the customer is not always right. Granted, this does sound like a charge issue this time around and I'm not saying that they don't make mistakes, but if you have so much issue with their CS it makes me wonder what you're doing first. Are you one of those people who calls and immediately screams at them or something?

I also don't understand the claims of Amazon being almost always cheaper than Newegg. Seems most stuff I look up to compare is usually the same price or cheaper on Newegg than Amazon with only a few exceptions here and there.

Anyways, I've spent thousands with Newegg over the last several years (thankfully not all my own lol, I build PCs for friends every so often) and have never once had an issue with them.

<shrug>

Yeah, that's really mature of you and bound to get them on your side
Sounds like your issue, not theirs. If you don't like them then unlike them on facebook and stop being an annoying troll. Grow up.

Over the last two years the decline in customer service from Newegg has been appalling. So much so, I've decided I'm completely done with this company.

For starters, their return policies are now not customer friendly on a variety of different items. For example, many items are not fully refundable and can only be returned back for store credit or a replacement item. I bought a Dell laptop a few months back that was faulty and blue-screening. They had their "techs" look at it and sent it back to me as-is after two weeks. Had to raise hell with their customer service just to get a replacement unit.

Recently ordered a television from them. For some reason my usual credit card would not go through, so I had to place the order on a different card. Wakeup the next day and notice two charges on the card that didn't go through. Call Newegg to handle this and have to go through hell to explain to their customer service rep that I don't want two televisions on my credit card. Had to escalate all the way up to a supervisor just to get someone to cancel it.

The quality of service from this company is deplorable. It is very clear to me now that customer service is not a priority at this company at all, it's all about maximizing profits. At this point there are simply better alternatives out there, namely Amazon. Hands down the best customer service in the business (esp regarding returns) and with Amazon Prime I get super fast shipping on nearly any item I could want.

TLDR: Fuck Newegg.

didnt the owners sell out?
