I'm sold on the 875P because DFI has the really nice looking Lan Party board and since I'll have CCFL and 3 fans all with Quad Leds at 20DB max but running at half speed with a fan controller and a nice case, I need something that looks good. Otherwise, yes, I too would be going for an 865PE board.

DOH! I'm having problems getting this thing to pass ANY MemTest runs. I started off at the 250MHz FSB/200 memory (3GHz CPU speed) and got tons of errors. I've tried CPU core volts up to 1.65 and DDR voltage up to 2.7V.

I'm running (2) Kingston HyperX 3500. I've tried relaxing the timings from the SPD of 2-3-3-7 to 2-4-4-7 and still get errors.

I tried dropping the FSB to 245 and 240MHz. Still got errors. I tried running at 3GHz with 166MHz memory. Still got errors.

Grrrrr, don't tell me I got f*&ked again with a bum CPU I'll just start installing everything back at 2.4GHz and resolve this later. I'll also try to revert back to the 1.1 BIOS for my IC7. I went to the 1.3 BIOS this morning.

NFS4, did it boot at default settings all around ? I'm curious because I have ordered my 2.8c but not the memory. I'm not sure if I want Corsair PC3200LL or PC3500 (Corsair of Kingston).

Well, I got tired of f*&king around with MemTest. It was giving me errors at even DEFAULT voltage/speeds/mem. And I know that my mobo and memory are OK.

So I went ahead and loaded WinXP at default speed and all went well. I ran prime for 45 mins and got no errors. I'm gonna bump it back up to 3.0GHz and run prime while I go take a package to officemax.

I left it running Prime while I went out to officemax at 3GHz/200MHz memory.

Came back and that baby is STILL flying along with no errors I'm gonna have to go for some more speed!!!

Hey NFS4, could you help me out a bit. Late next week; I'm going to get the ABIT IC7, P4c 2.4Ghz and 512 X 2 DDR Ram. I'll get it all on newegg. Originally I was going to get PC3700 Ram as I thought that this is what I needed to get my 2.4c P4 to O'c into the 3.0-3.2Ghz range with STABILITY and with the supplied Intel HSF.

But would using PC3700 be a waste of $$/Overkill? Is PC3500 All I really need? I ask, as its been over 4 years since I've Overclocked anything, and its all changed since then. Now I'm just thinking of getting PC3500 modules that anyone else with the same board, and cpu have had successful experience with O'Cing.

So my Questions:

1. If your successful at 3Ghz so far, are you using the Intel HSF combo?
2. For your Kingston HyperX ram, what are your Mem timings with the CPU at 3Ghz?
3. Do you think I'd get any better results with OCZ Enhanced Latency Series; or Corsair XMS?
4. I'm thinking of getting Arctic Silver 3 grease, should I remove the Intel Thermal pad on the Heatsink, or just leave it on?

I know that?s a bit to go over, but I've got everything I need already picked out, just picking out what RAM to get, is Making my Head EXPLODE!!!

Thanks man.

I've decided NOT to overclock this new system I'm setting up. I think Dual DDR400 at 2.6Ghz CPu will be fine much better than my 2.26 running 2.55 and DDR400. Not to mention my last systems became a strange bit unstable at overclocked speeds. I may go for a bit of extra but nothing too extreme.

I'd recommend to anyone debating this as I am to try default and see if it's sufficient at all their real apps. I'm not talking about benchmarking.

thatsright- for RAM, dont bother with PC3700. The only PC3700 out right now is crap. The best stuff to get right now is Mushkin PC3500 . Mushkin also has a 10% off coupon right now - ANAND. If not Mushkin, the next best is either Corsair XMS PC3500 or Kingston HyperX PC3500. They're about the same, but HyperX is less expensive. I went with with Kingston for my IC7 over Corsair because it was less expensive. OCZ is crap.

I had 2-2-2-5 @ 200MHz (DDR400) with my PC3500 HyperX

Definately use AS3 instead of the thermal pad if you are overclocking.

I just bought a CPU and ram on Thursday...I was going to get HyperX PC3500 but I went with 3200 instead, because I'm not planning on overclocking and it's rated 2-2-2-6 as opposed to the 2-3-3-7 on the 3500. Maybe I should have spent the extra $25?

Why is OCZ crap? I don't have experience with their RAM but I was thinking of getting their Cas2 PC3200 256MB sticks.
