Didn't read everything, but wanted to add my $0.02
I had a similar fallout with Newegg when I tried to buy a Laptop last October. I needed the thing fast and I got an e-mail days after I placed my order to tell me something was wrong. I called to fix it, and a few hours later my order was cancelled. Apparently, newegg cancels any orders with unresolved problems after 3 days. Unfortunately, that 3 days includes days that nobody at newegg sends e-mails - like weekends. So, even though I got it taken care of before the deadline, somebody must not have cleared the flag and my order got cancelled.
But they were good about it - offered to give me a creedit equivalent to what it would take to ship next-day instead of 3-4 day. Unfortunately, they had to put another authorization on my credit card - and the first one hadn't been credited back yet - that would take about 1 business week. Seemed silly to me - the reorder differed from the original only by the extra shipping. But, I didn't have time to wait (long story), so I wound up cancelling my order.
Yes, it was really just an unfortunate series of events, but seriously, I expected to not fall through the cracks. Now, I use newegg's website to browse customer reviews and order elsewhere. That may change someday, but for now, my business goes somewhere else.
