Anybody ever notice that they are charging these shipping costs on EVERYTHING now? A hard drive, has a .99 shipping charge now. a sound card had nearly a $6 shipping fee, and the fans they sell are only worth $3 by themselves, but they come to somewhere near $8 after shipping!!! But wait, it doesn't stop there, $3 shipping charges on popular graphics cards also! It's absurd. O wait, I forgot, their "SALES, involve shaving 1 cent off the price, and calling is a super sale. And they arbitrarily raise the prices from time of the day to time of the day. A 9600XT was $136 with free shipping when I woke up, when I went to bed it was $138 with a shipping fee. Anyone else notice this?

There are many awesome alternatives if you dislike Newegg's prices. Although their prices are still leagues better than anything you'll find locally, save Fry's and occasionally Microcenter.

ZipZoomFly.com is one of them. They offer free 2nd day shipping on most popular items and they usually match or beat Newegg's prices. And I'd rate their service and integrity as being at least equal to Newegg's.

They have always had crazy shpping price on small accessories but that's how they make money. if you buy 10+ fans its ussually free shipping ect. The added cost don't bother me though I ussually only buy items with free shipping anyways. I still have had my best experiences from newegg with online shopping. I always have included shipping costs into my purchases so if I can find a product somewhere else for cheaper including shipping I will occasionally buy it unless I feel like have in the back of my mind that I have the support of Newegg behind me. the other thing that makes me go with Newegg ALOT more is the fedex saver. Its alsmost always to my door in 2-3 days. I don't have to worry about stupid UPS taking a entire week to get me something...

Well that's what I was thinking, switching services, I think Newegg has become too complacent.

Even if its 1 to 3 more dollars I am willing to spend it to get 2-3 days shipping and excellent service. So far Newegg has never wronged me unlike other E-tailers. So far the experiences I have had with Newegg they have gone beyond what they need to do while other e-tailers ussually do less...

I think its the same as always, it depends on what you order and when. I have 2 outstanding orders that should deliver today. Total of 4 items including a TV Tuner Card, CPU, router and a notebook hardrive. ~ $300 and a grand total of $1.99 shipping for both packages. Pretty good IMO.

i know for example a WD raptor used to be free shipping all these while.

Now after the price dropped to $168, they charge 3 dollar for fedex saver..
which doesn't make sense.

anyway, its always up to them, and we have other choices.

They just had a Sonata case yesterday for like $96 and free shipping ! They almost allways charge for shipping on cases, like $15. I usually go to SVC.com for fans and HSF, and newegg for everything else.

Well, we do have a choice where we shop, and for everyone that praises neweggs shipping, I live near Washington DC, and it takes 5 days for me to get anything from the egg. It gets here, but I don't get the speedy shipping you guys get

Yes, I agree, but I don't see why they have to repay their loyal customers with random shipping costs for infintisimal items.

Most of their larger items have free shipping...which i find to be really great. I can purchase ram, hdd, cpu, and mb with free shipping most of the time. What gets you is the fan you may need or that extra cable and all of a sudden you have a $8-$12 shipping charge. While that maybe annoying, the shipping is extremely fast and you pay no tax in most states. Their service has been excellent. Newegg is not for somebody who wants to make a single purchase...its for those that need to get bulk or many items.

I'm sure the price fluctuations from hour to hour probably reflects the demand of the product and i don't think some guy just sits there adjusting the price most of the time (i'm only saying this because I used to work for a company where the price would adjust automatically by a shift in demand or supply). If they can make a few dollars here and there, then good for them...its economics at its best. The company has to survive somehow.

There are smaller companies out there that you can try, but newegg now has a solid reputation that you can trust.

You said what I was going to say. It's called flexible pricing isn't it? Dell does that all the time. It could be a number of reasons such as profiting on popularity, cost-cutting to keep service up, or squeezing out the people who keep returning things.

Have you shipped anything lately?? I'm surprised Newegg doesn't CHARGE MORE for shipping. Even at the prices they charge, they are UNLIKELY to be making any money on shipping.

Order something from Newegg or take something you ordered before, take the same package to UPS and get a quote. You will see.

I'd mark this as the answer if I could, but the fact remains the same, neweggs a great site, but ALL these little shipping costs add up, they should just include it in the price and not tell us

Don't get me wrong. I was TOTALLY surprised at seeing a 29 dollar added cost especially since I pay an extra sales tax for their great shipping anyway. But, I also checked amazon's shipping for the same exact monitor and it was roughly five bucks more. That adds up even more.

Some people are giving him too much of a hard time here. It's true, Newegg's prices aren't as competative lately. I still prefer them because I've had so many good experiences with them, and because of their easy RMA's, but I don't like them quite as much anymore.

Also, their prices fluctuate way too much lately. If you price out a system and come back two days later, half the components will have different prices. And the shipping charges are just silly the way they change from free to $0.99 to $4 to $6 back to free. It's stupid. I can understand prices actually changing, but they're just playing a stupid game with shipping charges. One day a hard drive will be $96 with free shipping, the next day it'll be $94 with $2 shipping. They need to make up their damn minds. I would certainly prefer if they would just go back to including shipping in the cost of almost all items.

A year ago, I would always get everything from Newegg. I never even checked anywhere else. This isn't the case anymore. I check around at ZipZoomFly & Monarch (sometimes Mwave, Axion, SVC and Xoxide) before I actually order anything.

But even Amazon could afford to raise shipping a little more since they are one of the most profitable online retailers, but their profits are abysmal compared to brick and mortar chains. We should be happy that it's lasted so long.

I wonder if they will buck the trend of mirroring other sites listed prices except for a small amount here and there. Maybe they'll change to department store pricing where they have big sales with big savings and then regular pricing the rest of the time.
