Now to get the internet ignorant paranoid online shoppers of the family to buy them. There are far too many people who think it's a hassle to buy online and wait for something. I would love to recieve nothing but newegg gift certs for christmas/b-day.

i dont get y everyone's so excited about newegg GCs... i mean sure you can give them as a gift and all, but how are newegg gcs different from amazon gcs, best buy gcs, circuit city gcs, etc...? what's there to be so excited about?

Because we prefer to get our stuff from Newegg and want people to give US newegg gift certificates.

My wife gave me gift certificates from bestbuy and micro center for Christmas, yet I bought myself a new scanner from Newegg on 12/26 and still have those gift certificates sitting on my desk:frown:

Bestbuy and micro center don't have the prices or the selection (although I do like those stores too).

My wife and I have boycotted Compusa since they sold her gift cards for me 3 years ago that they failed to validate when purchased. They treated me as if I had stolen them when I tried to buy something with them :|

I just e-mailed Newegg a couple of days before Christmas about Gift Certificates. They resonded that they were looking into it. I guess this answers my question. Like most people said, WHY after Christmas. Oh well, there is always next year!

Yes, NewEgg is a good online store but "what's there to be so excited about?" Not that they give 5% discount.

Why not just give cash? You are forcing someone to buy something from a store when you give a gift certificate. Give me cold hard cash anyday.

hopefully you are in california because CA law requires merchants to exchange gift certificates for cash on demand. also, GCs cannot expire in CA. hopefully you can just march into those stores and get cash for those.

Last time I looked, greenbacks didn't have a long list of T's and C's, or restrictions on where they can be used, or expiration dates.

Why anyone would want to transform currency to gift cards at a 1:1 ratio is mindbogling.

Yea I called Newegg a few weeks before Christmas and asked if they sold GC and said no not at this time, but will very soon! So I had to ask for Besy Buy GC's from family members.

Because giving cash is tacky.

Gift cards are excellent when they are for a store you *know* the person likes. It guarantees they'll get a gift they like, and also guarantees they won't spend it buying groceries instead of treating themselves to something they wouldn't normally buy.
