That's what many people do these days, Newegg is still excellent for researching what you need, then go and buy on Amazon!! Its like the best buy for computer parts
So they are doing away with shoprunner? or will keep both? If they are doing away with shoprunner then that's another nail in their coffin.
a great way to eliminate newegg restocking fees is to buy stuff from amazon.
seriously. putting stuff that should be standard customer service in a premier tier is lame.
Amazon now charges me sales tax. Since Amazon mostly price matches Newegg and Best Buy instead of being price leader, I rarely buy from Amazon. If I want it now, I buy it from Best Buy since it's the same price and I get it now. If I can wait, I buy from Newegg since I don't pay tax at Newegg. The only thing going for Amazon is their superior customer service. But price > CS.
tbh, I've gotten burned enough times by shitty Newegg customer service that unless the price difference is significant, I'm going to Amazon.
for the extra maybe $5 on an item once or twice a year, I like knowing that I'm not going to need to worry about getting screwed on restocking fees and the like.
I can count with one hand the number of times I needed the help of customer service at Newegg and Amazon. I've only had pleasant experiences with both. But Amazon definitely has the best customer service of any online company.
If I have any problem with a merchant, Amex has my back. Since I only use Amex at Newegg for the free Shoprunner, I'm not worried. Amex is more customer friendly than even Amazon. Amex will fight for you and pay out of their pocket to make you happy. At Amazon, I use Amazon Chase Visa. Chase is not in same league with Amex when it comes to CS. So if there is a real problem, I'm better off shopping at Newegg with Amex than Amazon with Amazon Chase Visa.
