I placed my order 8:30am PST on 11/26. My order actually shipped out at 12:30pm PST. Paid by Paypal. I've received no notification nor anything on my emails or invoices that indicate the 20% rebate.

I called paypal and asked. My order was placed at 12:00PM PST and they said I got in for the discount.

I spoke with a CSR at Newegg at lunch today and she said that as it stands now, orders placed before 2:30pm November 26 will be honored by PayPal, anything after that is not valid unless they change the decision they made.

This leaves my LCD monitor purchase as invalid and therefore a super-crappy deal at $170 after MIR.

She said that because I'm not happy with the purchase price (without the PP rebate) my only real option is to reject the package when UPS delivers it and have it returned to Newegg. She said in that condition I would receive a full refund for the monitor.

If I accept the monitor, I won't be able to return it because it has one of their "Limited screw you no refund" policies attached.

Next stop, UPS customer service.

Bunch of pity potty poor me whiners. Of the whiners in this thread *cough* VChuck, have you ever actually read a TOS agreement before clicking "I agree"? There's important information in there like, and I'm paraphrasing, "We have the right to cancel at any time for any reason" and "Until supply has run out".

why is it that when someone says you're wrong they have to be a badge seeker or whatever you call them. I agree with rip here. I was looking to buy a Q6600 cpu but I missed out on this deal, but oh well. I'll just wait until the next deal comes along. It's not the end of the world. I do feel bad for some people who were under the impression that they were getting money back (all you have to do is reject your package if you don't like the price), but I don't feel bad for anyone else. It's called a "promotion" and newegg has the right to end it when they like.

The only one whinning like a baby is you. You can call me whatever you want also, but you'll just prove me right.

So whats your point ... everybody should be fine with the way this was handled?

Its not the end of the world & I'll still be buying from Newegg, but that doesn't mean I'm happy about this crap ... as far as I'm concerned everyone at Newegg involved with this promotion should be ashamed of themselves.

Over the past several years, I have probably purchased in the neighborhood of $5,000 worth of components from Newegg. During the same period, I have recommended them to others amounting to purchases probably closer to $10,000. Yes, I will continue to purchase from Newegg. But I will look harder at other options, and I will be slower to recommend Newegg to others. They really gave themselves a black eye with this screw-up.

It doesnt really matter.

I've been shopping at the egg forever. I actually remeber talkin to CS people that were actually located in the US when you called! Now the egg is all about bad packaging, scam dynamic pricing and slooooow shipping. Now we have scandalous rebates and newegg changing the expiration date on a banner. I do enjoy people saying dont trust the egg though, make sure you read the fine print. Who the F would want to deal with a company they cant trust?

I bought a q6600 and a few other things totalling like $435.00 . Ill accept my stuff and the fact I saved no money and lost some time. From now on unless its a screaming deal Ill wait for a deal at frys or shop at ZZF or something .

The egg sucks now. I pretty much lump them in with tiger direct and will steer people away from them every chance I get.

Newegg = Screwegg for products in hot demand

However, I had a great experience with this promo. I placed my order at 8:30am pst for an Abit IP35 Pro mobo ($179 - $5 promo - $30 rebate - 20% paypal rebate) and a E2180. My order shipped from NJ four hours later. I received it the next day in MA. I would have never had expected that.

Word on the street is PayPal is not recognizing TONS of orders placed through NewEgg. Guess you'll find out in January 08?

Those are the perils of ground shipping. I live on the east coast, everything from California takes a full week to get to me when it's shipped ground, longer if it wraps over a weekend. Some of my deals from last weekend (the Abit board and E2180 from Mwave and the CoolerMaster case from ClubIT) won't get to me until Dec 4th.

Newegg's New Jersey warehouse gets me things in 1-2 days.

You win some, you lose some in that game. It's just a matter of what you live near and how much you're willing to pay for shipping.

The issue at hand here (at least to me) isn't so much the money, its the trust & confidence in Newegg that I've lost.

As I said earlier I'll still buy from them personally, but I'm going to think twice before I refer any of my customers to them & I'm sure I'm not the only person here who feels that way.

Edit: Editing the date on the original ad-banner was perhaps the worst move ... admitting they made a mistake & apologizing would have been a much smarter move then trying to sweep it under the rug!

I just blasted them and their reply was to blame PayPal. Screw BadEgg.

Pretty much the same thing that happened with me ... failure to take responsability.

Regardless of the circumstances surrounding the promo & Paypal, Newegg had the good reputation here & they are the ones taking the hit ... Paypal couldn't care less since their rep is already in the crapper.

They must not have actually shipped it ground or the carrier themselves must have rerouted it for some reason. Google maps puts it at 43 hours of driving from City of Industry, CA to my house in CT. Even if the truck somehow drove nonstop from the start of business on Monday it would be a very close call to arrive in time to get on the truck for Wednesday's deliveries. In reality it takes 4-5 travel days between the tracking entry "loaded on truck" and the "arrival at hub" entry.

WTF? NewEggs isn't giving the 20% Paypal cash back? WTF??? I could have bought Mass Effect at EToys,ToyrUS and get the 20% if I knew BADEGGS weren't giving 20% back. I'm going to be ticked if I don't see my money by Jan 08

Sheesh, this is fast becoming "Whinetech" ...

1.) EVERY retailer participating in the PayPal 20% promo had a set limit to the amount of money they were devoting to this event. From the sounds of things here, it's apparently Newegg's fault that they are so popular that their limit was hit before any other merchant participating. Yeah, right. And BTW, Dell hit their limit soon after. Yet nobody's b!tchin' about them. Reminds me of the 1997 "Hot Deal" from BUY.COM on a 19" Samsung CRT that the whiners here moaned about for months on end, eventually even filing class action lawsuits ! Lame lame lame ...

P.S. - Thanks to any suit filers who may still be around here though. Regretably I missed out on the monitor, yet somehow I managed to live another day. But it really made my day when I got a settlement check for something I never even protested / took part in.

2.) Since Monday afternoon, anyone could call Newegg or Paypal and get a simple answer as to whether your order qualified or not. I actually called both and got the same answer from both - if your order was placed before 12:00pm PST, your Paypal account will be credited with the $ sometime in January. The nice CSR even sent me an email verification of our conversation upon my request. Reading through this thread I see someone else also actually bothered to call (vs. whine) and got a very similar answer, ie. 2:30pm EST. So perhaps there were a few orders in limbo whilst the systems caught up but that would ONLY be those falling between 2:30 & 3:00pm EST.

3.) As for complaints about their shipping, if they send you a package via UPS 3 Day and it doesn't make it in time, that's UPS hosing you, not Newegg. One should also note that orders do not always ship same day as ordered (though I've never had one fail to ...) and no where do they guarantee as such. So, once your order has shipped, if it then exceeds 3 days, call UPS. I've had orders from Newegg arrive in my city in one day, only to have UPS let it set for 2 days before they deliver it, yet I'm less than 10 miles from their main depot here. And this big promo certainly had no effect on their ship times ... I placed an order at 10:16am EST on Monday and at 10:30am Wednesday the UPS man was on my porch with my order. And note, it shipped from CA to Ohio and never even started its "journey" from CA until 10:45pm Monday night.

LOL Whinetech.

I talked to a live chat person and was told they didnt know if I was eligible and they would email me. I got the email AFTER my items shipped. Pretty shady if you ask me.

If my ordere sits a few days before even being packaged then ships right before the weekend thats newegg, not UPS( I hate ups so I would be more than happy to complain about them as well ) You cant blame the substandard packaging on the shipping company either. The sound card came last night with a piece of brown paper in the box. Not even enough to hold it in place, just kind of bouncing around. I bought the 4 1tb HDDs locally for fear of getting badly packed drives.

Im not whining. More than anything this is a warning to everyone. If theres an issue with a rebate, newegg will leave you hanging, dont trust em. Make sure to read the fine print at newegg.

Ive been a long time cuntomer of newegg I refuse to be an apologist for them. If I can warn 20 people a year away from newegg I think I'll be doing a service to them.

I'll still order from the egg if its a really good deal but otherwise Ill shop with more trustworthy companies.

EDIT! LAWL! I just showed my wife ( she works at a vet clinic ) how the sound card was packed and she says they send body parts to the University packaged better than that!

Mostly I agree, but this particular promotion seems to be an exception unless "sorry but your SOL" works for you.

Also complaining online is one of the few things that makes merchants take notice.
