I have two orders from Amazon pending "Super Saver Shipping". Estimated delivery for each is three weeks from the order date. Neither has shipped and it has been over week on both.

CALL AMAZON!!!

I order something (Buttkicker Gamer) from Amazon with like the $5 overnight shipping or whatever...said it was going to take 3 weeks to deliver (whats the point of overnight?!?!)...I said "Fuck that shit"...called them, explained my view on it, got my package 2 days later.

used their egg saver shipping only once, longest shipping I've ever had to deal with. With their std 3 day shipping it makes it to me next day if it's from NJ.

Prime FTW. My last SSS shipping took about three weeks...I broke down and bought a Prime membership (I've had..maybe seven months worth of free trials in the last year). At least half of my latest 2-day orders have arrived next day. :awe:

What gets me is how things sent 'air mail' can take several weeks to get here. I've always wondered how an airplane can fly that slowly and still manage to stay in the air. I like to believe that the various national post office's concerned use zeppelins. I visualise them floating lazily and majestically across the landscape.


The other thing that's irked me quite recently is how you can order something from Amazon, change your mind an hour later (this is at, like, midnight) and find it can't be cancelled because they are 'preparing it for dispatch'. Then you have to wait over a week for it to turn up before you then have to go to the post office to send it straight back again.

Non-prioritized, multiple carrier shipping will always be the slowest option (outside of freight and sea), even if it's partly done by air. I think Woot! accurately depicts "smart" (cheap) FedEx/USPS shipping with this icon:

By the way, the rare slow Amazon shipments are sometimes due to restocking items. Usually they have a "estimated delivery" time of 2 weeks or higher displayed before you place the order. I avoid those items whenever possible. I love Amazon Prime.

Scheduled for delivery on the 28th... since you live so close, why would you think it may not arrive earlier? 90% of the time, my packages arrive way before scheduled delivery date, especially super saver shipping from amazon.

I ordered a hdd from New Egg. It got to Rocklin, CA on the 23rd. It's scheduled for delivery on the 28th. I could literally crawl on my belly between here and Rocklin in 5 days. Maybe less!

I will never order from them again!

They always estimate on the late side for delivery days. You'll be happy to get it early, but quite upset if it's late.

Maybe it's location dependent, but it always seems that Dell does this to a higher degree than any other company I've ordered from online. Does anyone else notice this?

I just started my Prime trial and it's pretty awesome. Not worth full price for me as I don't order a ton, but if I could get a group buy going it'd be worth it.

UPDATE

I received a PM from NewEgg. They asked about my order number to confirm what I had wrote. Once they confirmed it, they called UPS to see what was going on. They got response from UPS that really clarified nothing but at least NewEgg cares/tries.

I was just ranting because the package got to the UPS warehouse in Rocklin on the 23rd and isn't scheduled for delivery till the 28th. That means it will just sit in their warehouse for 5 days.
Not at all NewEggs fault. Just a nuance of UPS.

I don't need it in a hurry. I just assumed that if UPS had in at their facility that they would ship it out. Not sit on it for 5 days. It took 1 day to come from TN.
