I just got this email from them regarding the paypal 20% promotion.

"We would like to offer our sincerest apologies for the recent Paypal promo confusion. The promotion officially ended at 2:30 pm PST on Monday Nov. 26th, but we would now like to inform you that we will honor 20% off all confirmed Paypal orders placed up until 5:30 pm PST that same day. You successfully placed your order before the 5:30 pm PST cut off, so we will take it upon ourselves to reimburse your Paypal account 20% of your orders amount; up to a maximum amount of $50.00. Please allow 3-5 business days for the refund to fully process and appear back onto your Paypal account.

We truly thank you for your patience and understanding during this uncommon experience. Please understand that we would never try to intentionally cause you any inconvenience, and we are always here for you if you should have any questions or concerns.

Kindest regards,

It took them a week to cook up a half measure. Their lies, stonewalling and contradictiory info over the last week has left people in the dark. People have had funds tied up while not knowing where they stand and they've been instructed to refuse delivery on orders that really were covered. Worst of all, this lame "we've got you covered" promo hides the fact that they really don't have people covered. They entended the cutoff for 3 hours, big whoop. That does NOTHING for the people who ordered after that yet-again artificially imposed deadline. A whole lot of people placed orders after the new deadline expecting them to be part of the promo and those people are still just as out of luck as they have been for the last week. All NewEgg did here was slightly reduce the number of people that THEY screwed. Despite the wording on the lame graphics not everyone is "covered". It's not even close to everyone. A lot of people here have been damaged financially by NewEggs mistakes and NewEgg did nothing for them. So lets hold off on the cheering.

Get a clue. If somebody CAUSED an accident that damaged 5 cars would you applaud them if instead of fixing one of the cars they damaged they decided to fix 2 instead? There would still be 3 people who were financially damaged by that persons mistake. But yeah, you just keep worshipping the Egg. They're relying on people like you to remain fanboys in spite of their horrible service. The people that understand reality will be shopping elsewhere.

If they didn't make it right for EVERYONE they screwed then they deserve contempt, period. They didn't. End of discussion.

$ back is still $ in your pocket. I would give NewEgg a 9.5 for taking the high road. Better late than never.

Damn scumbag @ Amabomb is the worst. They accepted my Logitech webcam order, then delayed the ship date. After the 2nd delay, the idiot sent an e-mail claiming a pricing error. This is the 3rd consecutive times that I've been screwed by Amabomb. Never again. Oh yeah, I also shorted AMZN this morning. This turd will retrace back to 75 bucks in 2008.

I have no idea what you're talking about.

To all the people talking shit about Newegg, I think it's been pretty clearly determined that Paypal is where most of the fault lies. Also, I'm almost positive the advertisement was taken down well before 5:30 pst, and it was clearly stated that when a site took down the ad, the promotion was over, so I think Newegg is covering people they don't technically have to. I'm sure all of the confusion and the delay is because they run on very slim margins and this is going to cost them a lot of money, and they were trying to figure out how to manage this. I think they're doing the right thing. Perhaps you're angries because you just blindly clicked a link from a hot deals site and bought a bunch of shit without verifying that the deal was still good?

Yessir. They took a minimal path to avoid potential the obvious BBB issues, not to make things right. Personally, their email response to me PO'd me more than ignoring me, and I am not buying from them during this holiday season - my peragotive.

Luckily, I placed my order at 8:30am pst on 11/26.

Taking over a week to make a lame decision that they'd extend the order to 5:30pm pst for 11/26 is weak sauce imho.

Newegg = Screwegg

That's awesome. They didn't have to do anything..

I didn't get my order in before I received word that they were out of cash and they STILL kicked me back $10...

I admire their customer service.

Sounds like sour grapes to me.

A company can't change its mind about an special discount offer? As much as I'm annoyed that they stopped it early - I couldn't place my order till that evening and therefore missed out getting $200 or $250 back on a > $1k order - I believe it was within their rights to do so and don't hold a grudge against them for it (and in fact, still bought $500 of stuff knowing that I wasn't getting the discount).

 Newegg. Better late than never for those lucky enough to get the deal. Just do better next time.

Just because you like throwing money away, doesn't mean everyone else does.

you guys are ridiculous. still bitching? first of all, it wasn't even newegg's fault for the end of the promotion. second, newegg is taking money out of their own pockets to give 20% cash back to those who ordered for a while after the promotion ended. how can you be that much of a bastard to complain about that

*exactly*
-- i am sure you don't give a crap for the "other people" who placed orders after 5.30 PM ... but if you really do care about "principle" tell NewEgg to shove their 20% refund up their butts - refuse it - and take it to court.

... and make sure - in future - you chose TigerDirect ... you will get the service you deserve

Paypal does a messed up promotion every year (remember last year).

Paypal has a knack for annoying their customers with poorly executed promo events.

newegg lied? It appears as if PayPal lied. newegg was merely one of the many corporations PayPal was doing the promotion with.

Newegg dropped the ball.

1. They promoted the sale to 11/28
2. They did not pull the ad til hours after the promotion ended
3. Took more than a week to make their decision (a lame one at that)
4. Newegg CSR's provided contradicting information, telling people to refuse shipments b/c they weren't eligible for the promotion but now they are eligible. Well it's too late b/c they already refused shipment

Other stores that ran the same promotion - placed in their ad that the promotion was only for a limited number of uses or total dollar allowance, Newegg did not

I don't know who lied, but I'm not happy. Would not have never shopped at NewEgg if I knew I wasn't going to get my 20% back.
