I ordered $480 worth of stuff that morning, around 10:30am, during the promotion. I received no such email. Are they only emailing people who bought from 2:30 to 5:30, and if so will those of us who purchased in the morning that day be reimbursed? do we need to call? I never heard word 1 from either Newegg or Paypal on this.

i'd still say newegg is one of the better online retailers, but i think over the last year or 2 they have fallen off the "greatest retailer ever" spot.
with the no returns policies on monitors, the non combined shipping, etc.... i think now they are just one retailer in your "rotation" that you check for the best prices, whereas when they first appeared you basically could just buy everything there and probably woudl have gotten the best deal on it.

3.) Finally, a bit more positive news on this topic. For those still wondering if you qualified for the actual PP "rebate" (vs. getting your $'s as a result of Newegg taking one on the cuff for you) - check your email. If you qualified you ought to have received an email from PP informing you that your account has been credited with $50.

1.) As I noted in another thread on this "topic", all the retailers participating in the PP promo had "hard" $ limits set in to the promo from the getgo. Hence all the legal disclaimers for the conditions under which the promo could end before the proposed final day of eligibility, including if the total sales $ limit is met before the end date. Bottom-line, the sale was not advertised to last a set length of time. Now if one choses to ignore the word "OR" that was also part of the same ad clause, as well as all the text following the word "OR", ie. ignored the sale limit disclaimer(s), then that's their fault. It's not Newegg's fault that they have so much traffic/sales that it was only inevitable that they would blow through the sales promo $ limit faster than anyone else. Can you imagine if Amazon had participated ? Now that woulda been crazy !
2.) In general Internet "hot deals" aren't what they used to be, in that there is so much more traffic/attention, and thus competition. Not to mention the promotion, listing (via dedicated sites), etc. of "hot deals" that has literally become a business in and of itself. Bottom-line, learn to get over the disappointment when one misses out on a deal. Oldtimers here at AT (ie. forum members who pre-date the 1999 "reset") learned this lesson long ago with the infamous BUY.CON 19" Samsung CRT fiasco. :wine::wine::wine: ( )

I'd like to see if they can find another store with better price AND customer service.

To the people crying about "Financial Hardships" from this mishap...maybe you shouldn't spend so much on computer parts if the money you've ALREADY spent (and the %20 you didn't count on getting back until Jan.) is that much of a blow to you. I've gotten far to many great deals & fantastic customer service with them to stop purchasing with NE.
*And* for the 890,384th time, it clearly says in their email that the deal could fall through at any moment. Go NewEgg for following through with a commitment to help those who may be in that gray area BEFORE you were supposed to even get your original refund anyway. GEEZ!
Some people will never be pleased and will always want more. To those of you that attempt to take advantage of companies during this time, I hope you get 0$ back....and they charge tax in your area.
I feel better now....

It's not a matter of "financial hardship" it's a matter of getting good deals. I bargain shop, not because I have to, but because I like to squeeze blood out of every penny. If I wanted to , I could pay cash for another sports car or take a year off from work, but I don't want to do it......not because I can't, but because I DON'T WANT TO!
Quit referencing some fine print as nearly every advertisement/sale/deal states the same thing. "We have the right to do what we want, how we want, when we want."
That doesn't mean we should be happy when NewEgg exercises that right. It also has the right to charge $100 shipping on every item, does that mean we should be happy about that too?
All I want is the deal that was offered. I saw it was a 2 day sale in the morning before work. YES! Some of us have to work, are responsible for projects and people, and can't surf the internet for "deals." Well, I came home from work to see the 2 day sale had ended.
It is PayPals fault, but it's also NewEggs for not knowing what it was getting itself into. I got the email advertising this fiasco FROM NEWEGG! NOT PAYPAL.
