I've bought my last 2 MoBos from Newegg Refurbs (Abit KX7-333 and KD7-G). No problems, and CHEAP.

I'm leaning toward this matx over the others because this will take sdram or ddr.

Sometimes you luck up, but one time I received a DOA Asus motherboard. Cost me $7.00 bucks to ship it back & had to pay a restocking fee of $6.00. No more refurbs for me. (but I do love Newegg for new items)

restocking fee?
Never ever paid a restocking fee, and I've returned several bad "refurbs" to Newegg. I always ask for a repair or exchange, and they always refund the purchase price. A day or two later, the item they would not or could not replace is available for sale again. If I wanted the money, I wouldn't have bought the item. Ticks me off that they never replace refurbs. Some of those deals are hard to get, and you pay to send dead junk back to NewEgg. But don't get me started on a rant...

For all these people buying refurb motherboards - what do you do about the backplates, if they don't come with them? Cut them out of cardboard? Buy them on ebay? Contact manufacturer? Or do they usually come with them?

Most come with backplates.. Asus ones do not but asus will ship you one for free if you email them. Always remember to be polite when asking for a freebie

I had 2 refurb boards from new egg. One did not post. I was waiting for additional parts to complete this computer. I waited well beyond the 15 day return period to do the RMA and new egg took it back anyway. Ordered another refurb board and it ran 24 hours or so. Shut down the computer and it would not start. This was under the 15 day period. They took it back. I gave up with refurb mb and just bought a new one no problems with this. I have also got 2 refurb 36 gig WD raptors from new egg. These have five year warranty according to WD and have had no problems with these at all.

Actually turns out the refurb mobo I bought on newegg wasnt broken. All I had to do was reset the cmos, probobly the retard who had it before me tried to change the multiplier in the bios and thought it was kaputt.

Bought two Leadtek TV2000XP Deluxe cards ....... one was bare card and didn't work well & was returned .... the other was retail box with everything and works great.
Also have an ASUS A7N8X Deluxe refurb ..... works great ..... got the accessory pack from Bonnie at Asus for $20 .... well worth it.
It's been my experience with Newegg refurbs ... if there is more than one or two in stock they're more likely to come with accessories ...... if there is only one in stock I've had less luck .... maybe an incomplete customer return. Anyone else notice this?

Got the Gigabyte GA-7N400 Pro rev 1.0 ($60) delivered today via Fedex. Plain Fedex box, no accessories, Mobo only. Looks like I'll have to order the accessory pack if available.

Experienced the same with ASUS for a client machine build.

In the past (what seems the distant past now), ASUS had presented board extras and accessories to new owners (even refurbished owners) for no charge. With the rise of the resale of refurbished products, they seemed to have discountinued this practice. I think it is quite understandable, and even acceptable - although I too dislike the extra charge.

A huge YMMV on the accessories, but have never experienced any problems with NewEgg refurbished products, even when one was found completely defective (there was no restocking fee, and the RMA process painfree).

I purchased a MSI KT6 Delta (KT600) refurb from newegg a month or so ago. it was $49 and came with all cables, accessories, backplate.....it was a full retail kit

I never have any problems with newegg refurbs, everyone I have bought have worked fine. I usually buy the refurb stuff because I am a cheap bastard LOL
