I have flashed the latest BIOS and it recognizes it as a XP1900+ but I cannot get it to recognize it at any higher multipliers even though I can change it up to 15X 133 in setup. It just slows it back to 667 when I save and restart. Anybody know anyway around this?

Yes, the problem is, with most mobos, the multipliers have two ranges, 5.5-12.5, and 13-22, or something like that. You have to do some bridge-modding to switch between the ranges. There's a good article on www.overclockers.com about it, it's still linked from the front page I expect.

On my MSI KT4V-L, Via KT400/8235 chipset (supposedly, KT400 and NForce2 boards, are "fully unlockable", but mine isn't), I get the multiplier option range from 6.0 to 12.5, in 0.5 steps, and then a 14.0 and 15.0 mult. But the 14.0 and 15.0 mult, are actually 5.0 and 5.5 multiplers. So you are probably running at 133Mhz x 5.5, a little above 667Mhz.

I got the same exact problem. Sucks!!
peace

There goes my theory that I might be able to recognize TBredB chips at a computer show at a distance by their green PCBs. :|

The highest I can get my TBredA stable is around 1.667-1.7Ghz, but my mobo only lets me set it to max 1.6v. Stock is 1.5v. I think I might be able to push it to XP2200+ stable with 1.65v, hoping for a BIOS upgrade.

you can try modify the L11 bridge to get the default voltage higher.

Why would you want an A? I assumed they as in Newegg got rid of thier old A's 2 weeks ago or something since they are shipping out B's now.

He is referring to A -stepping T-bred B, not T-bred A.

hehehe....

A as in AIU..... not revision A

i know they are shipping rev B

but there are two rev B's ... A and J...

lots of people getting the 2100+ are getting the A's and everyone i've seen so far getting 1700+ are getting the J's

sorry for the confusion

that was microsofts "new" and improved OS. To make sure you didn't install it on a diff system they were planning on having you register your hardware and if more than like 2 things changed you would have to get it validated that you were using your license legally. I think they scaled it back a bit.

2100+ is back in stock at Newegg - link

More than 99 units in stock, hopefully they're A-stepping and not J. I'm feeling lucky!

ok, after a bunch of tries i finally got her running at 2004mhz (15 x 134) w/ 1.750v and temp 26c (ambnt) 30c (tbred)!!! WOOT!!!

it is recognized as a 2400+ also. i am using crappy infineon pc2100 ddr so i had to drop the fsb to almost nothing. something weird keeps happening tho - the board shut itself down a couple of times and when i restart theres a message that says my cpu and or host clk settings failed and i need to go reconfigure them or something like that. its like there is an overclock guardian in there or something - lol.

geesh i can't wait to get teh cosair tomorrow and hopefully be avle to run this puppy at these speeds with teh fsb in la la land. alright back to the testing bed specs below...

Lian Li pc65 - $80 (traded Dell E151fp LCD [$80.00] from hotdeals forum)
Epox 8k9a - $69.00 (hotdeals forum)
Tbred 1700+ @ 2004mhz - $50.00 (hotdeals forum)
Thermalright AX-7 - $FREE (part of LCD / Lian Li trade courtesy of hotdeals forum)
Infineon pc2100 (6ns) - $19.00 (hotdeals forum)
80GB WD HDD - $46 (hotdeals forum)
52x24x52 Liteon CDRW - $29 (hotdeals forum)
WinXP Pro - $FREE (hotdeals forum)

...gotta love this place!!!

Looking over your info I saw you got Win XP Pro free. any kind of deal like that still around?

As for the 2000 mhz barrier issue.....I have 2 of the XP1700 Tbred B chips from Newegg (I love em!!) but I am limited to 1975 MHZ (Recognized as XP2400) 158x12.5 @1.65 xvolts@ 38 degrees because both of my MB's....MSI K7T Turbo2 and an Abit Kt7A can only go to a 12.5 multiplier...1 w/ PC 133 258MB Ram and 1w/PC 150 Ram....just goes to show that decent ram will go a long ways......still wish I knew a way around the 12.5x thing....both have been flashed with the latest BIOS also......

I can't tell what version I have of the Abit KT7A...it must not be V1.03 because it will not recognize the XP chip....I can only get it to run stable at 1875mhz 12.5 x 150@1.75volts....my other MSI K7T Turbo2 will run at 1975. Good luck with yours! I see Newegg is at $57 shipped today......
