I got my NF7-S in the mail today. I think they might have sent me a customer return? This doesn't look like a new box at all. there are actually fingerprints on the manual! Anybody had experience with this!?!?!?!?!

Rubens

UPDATE: I ordered another NF7-S from newegg- $101 shipped overnight (their offer)
I took it
I ship my board back
that's fine I guess- this new board better be a NEW one

UPDATE:I got yet ANOTHER used one! This time w/ missing items- and it's dead again! WTF IS WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE

UPDATE:newegg promised me a call back last week, but never called back. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE!

UPDATE: 9/14/03
Still no response! So much for that "Great CS!" I even called to remind them that a supervisor is supposed to call me back..it has been SO LONG!

I ended up purchasing a board from General Nanosystems in Minneapolis, MN. (K7N2-Delta)
The system is working great, their prices are higher than online retailers but the peace of mind and local support is great. They even booted up the board with "test hardware" on site so i KNEW i was taking home a NEW and WORKING board.

UPDATE: 9/16/03- after weeks of no reply- somebody finally saw the thread and got ahold of me. Here is what he wrote.

Call them back and complain! Tell them to send you a replacement and ship this one back at their expense. Might have been an honest mistake since they are one of the better internet stores.

That's a little disturbing. I ordered mine and received it Thursday...and noticed the exact same thing. It was complete, and all the accessories were sealed...but the box looked like it had beat up quite a bit...and the manual/inserts/cd all looked as if they had been used. I've been a loyal Newegg customer for a while now, so the thought that I might have received a used board quickly passed. But given your concerns and that fact that both of our orders were received right around the same time, I believe a phone call may be in order just to see if there may have been any mix-ups.

I love Newegg and spend a lot of $ with them but this has happend to me as well more than once. The goods worked fine every time but it was obvious that it was not brand new. I won't bitch until they ship me something DOA.

I had the exact same problem. I won't deal with them anymore after this week.

Mine wasn't as well. I honestly wasn't sure whether it was supposed to be or not since it's the first new board that I've purchased in 3-4 years .

Maybe the fingerprints were from the manufacturer's own handling? They place the manual in the box, wrap it up, and send it to NewEgg. NewEgg wraps it in another box, and sells it online. The person opens it up and sees the finger prints of one of the workeres @ ABIT, perhaps?

How is it dead???

Take the battery out and give it 5 minutes. Install battery and try again.

Happened to me with an IS7 last week, I complained strongly and they're going to credit me $25 for return shipping (it cost me $7) in addition to my original charges. Mine was obviously previously opened (probably used as well) and had three ram retaining clips broken off.

I went to Googlegear for the replacement, but I chose to try an MSI 865PE Neo2 LS instead.

I'm going to start a new thread about the problem I'm having with that.

I would like this issue to be well known. Granted I will post as to how they handle the situation, but this is downright unacceptable, and possibly illegal. You can't sell a used item as new.

I have no reason to shop at newegg again after this experience. Is it under new management or something? Talk about a once mighty company falling downhill. I want to see everybody they jipped charging for a new board and getting sent a used one being sent a $30 GC or something similar. this is crazy.

Ruben, some Motherboard Manufacs don't usually seal teh Anti-static bag. Mostly lower tier manufacs just leave it open. I had a Biostar and ECS board delivered open-bag to me, and had the same problem from "newfeg". But most manufacs do seal them with a yellow QA EMI sticker. So, I'm practicing the same approach against this company as you are.

I got a motherboard from them like before as well. It was an Iwill KK266. It was clear it was a used board. I sent it back and went to a weekend show and bought one. I have ordered from them since then but they do try to be slick. IMO Googlelgear is the best one to buy from. Mwave has always been good as well, but not quite as cheap.

I had a busy weekend, so I wasn't able to bench test mine as I planned. However, I will be doing so tomorrow and will post the results. I've been dealing with Newegg for a while now, and I sincerely think this may have just been a screw-up in shipping. However, after giving the contents another look, as well as the condition of the box...I don't think there's any doubt that at least SOME of the contents had been used before. I won't say much more until I'm able to test. However, I will be contacting Newegg regardless and asking for an explanation on the matter. If it turns out I was sent a used board...then I'll expect a credit of the difference in cost...at the very least.

They've never failed me in the past...and I don't see any reason they should do so now. I have another larger order I was planning on placing with them this weekend...but that won't happen until this issue is resolved. Here's hoping they're quick on their feet!

ordred a pair of corsair xms pc3200c2 512 modules and i am pretty certain they were returned parts. Both had scoring on the contacts indicating they had been plugged in before and one had a nasty scratch on the heat spreader. The serial numbers were also about 15,000 apart. Not likely with modules picked out of the same box. rma'd the one with the scratch as it wouldn't run at all at 200mhz. the other seems to work fine so i kept that one. Definately dissapointed with them. No way to tell looking at the package because it isn't Corsair sealed in any way. Corsair really should seal the package in some way.
