I'm not trying to sway anyone one way or another. As I stated, I've dealt with Newegg for a while now and, although I doubt I've spent thousands of dollars with them, they've always treated me right and their service has been top notch.

As far as I'm concerned, this thread is just a "heads up" for everyone that there might be a problem. As it was suggested, maybe a new worker accidentally pulled from the refurbs when packaging orders. Who knows?

What you make of the information and how you proceed is, obviously, up to you.

all these posts make me wonder even more about the mobo I got from them
last month where the serial # on the board didn't match what was on the box.
The board was sealed in a static resistant bag though and everything
appeared to be new.
Newegg replaced a cpu for me as well last month. It had a couple of bent pins.
I was extremely greatful they replaced it.
I don't care for how they pack things though. Many of the items I ordered were
not packed w/ peanuts on the sides, just on the top and bottom.
Luckily nothing got damaged, but when packing boxes there should be some amount
of packing material on the sides of the box as a buffer.
Just got a new mobo from Monarch and they did a very nice job of packing it with
peanuts completely surrounding the item.

I have bought 3 mobos, 3 cpus and 2 vid cards from them in the last year and none of them appeared to be used and everything down to the anti-static bags and cdrom covers were sealed tight.

I like newegg for me cause I am in oregon and fex-ex saver on a monday or tuesday order will be there by thursday of frdiay.

This is too bad!!!!

I guess I am lucky I tend to not buy the most popular items or brands. Also retail chips from intel would be areal NO NO if they did any reselling of those once they had been "pryed open"....

Perhaps some of you that've bought $10K worth from newegg are such high volume that you didn't notice a few used items? Used items can look as new. Just a thought.
They seem to have a lot of returns. Do they turn around and sell that many labeled as used/refurbs? If not, they've gotta go somewhere.

> ... even before they were Newegg (remember Egghead Software) they were on my short list of IT vendors.

I'm reasonably certain there is no connection between the two eggs. Egghead did merge with some other online reseller (which I forget) sometime after they suddenly closed all the stores and became an Internet-only operation.
Egghead.com now with Amazon

Somebody said Egghead was known here for selling used stuff as new. I read these forums quite a bit, and I have not seen that, until now.

New Jersey. Yeah, I just got some Sony floppy drives that Newegg shipped from New Jersey.( And I wish they were the same very nice drives I got about a year ago. These are very noisey.) Before that, everything came from two close places in California.

As for opened products, some outfits charge extra for that. They will test the stuff, for a fee, before they send it out. Newegg says they never test anything.

I've also ordered a fair few things from newegg in the past -never any problems, and always fast service.

This is really surprising, but I'm not ready to give up on them yet. It sounds like they have just started using a new distributor - sounds like their sales are expanding and this is their way of coping, and these NJ guys aren't the most reliable in the world.

Still, I'm reassured that their customer support people are still fast and responsive - hopefully they'll notice the problems they are having with these new guys and act on them as fast as they act when a customer has a problem.

Lets just hope someone from Newegg reads this post and takes care of these used parts being shipped a new ones. I have faith in them!

Personally I have always liked newegg but this is NOT acceptable. Make sure taht you honestly report this all at www.ressellerratings.com

I posted this elsewhere, but i also have had problems....and this is my first time ordering from them.

My A7N8X deluxe came to me DOA a few dyas ago,im pretty pissed. It was obviously not new and had been opened and banged up pretty good. The antistatic bag had holes in it for gods sake, the manual had frayed edges and pen marks on it....completely unacceptable.

I bought boards from other places that had same problem. I think the factory may check or pack them, and that the reseller may do the same.

I have had the best expereince with NewEgg and GoogleGear of any internet stores, and the absolute worst was BuyXtremeGear.

I went to Googlegear for the replacement, but I chose to try an MSI 865PE Neo2 LS instead.

I'm going to start a new thread about the problem I'm having with that.

Lol, the new MSI P4 boards are hands down the worst mobos I ever laid my hands on. I feel sorry for ya

really? I don't think so. I have recieved 8 differrent corsair xms modules in the past 6 months and not one of them was a sealed package. All packages were simply the plastic snap shut display package with the backing card. No seal on it just snap it open and remove the memory. Put the memory back in and snap it shut and it looks exactly as it did before it was first opened.

I have bought alot from newegg and have always found the price, delivery, quality and customer support great. Only one RMA out of maybe 10 mobo's and 15 cpus. As well as many other purchases. They are still my first choice.

Googlegear has been good too. I have bought from them when newegg is out of stock or has a higher price.

Beware of reburbish mobo from newegg, most of which will work but is defective and don't last long say 1-2 months at most. WASTE $$$ down the drain
This one after 2 month of use is starting to fail on me, my 128mb is detected as 32mb and it often reload bios default at least once a day. Its going downhill from here.
brands I bought so far are ECS, Abit, MSI.

I disagree, Ive ordered ram from newegg and Cosiar both! Either of the 3200 XMS I got were sealed in away to show its been tampered or replaced. Like someone said above it just has push in buttons.

This whole things look like the "Rebate Hassle".

The Customer Service is Only Great for those who Can Cry.
Like I said before on the refurb sales, the majority of the innocent buyers will be left behind.
That is one of the big holes of today's elaborated marketting.

I've never had any trouble with Newegg over the last few years I've delt with them and thousands of dollars spent. For all the suprisingly negative comments in this thread (suprising to me), I sure don't see it reflected with resellerratings. Why hasn't this thread poster posted a negative there I'm wondering?

Because It's just recently happening. I too could hardly believe this with the company who established such a good fame.
In fact, thay must have been having tough time to handle the high return rates of goods to provide good customer service.
Good customer service without good qc or technical service may also get into trouble like this.

Resellerratings has feedback from Newegg customers up to todays date. Posts in this thread indicate this is common practice for Newegg, yet I don't see it reflected..in fact newegg has a higher 6 month rating than its lifetime rating (Newegg rating history). My experience is that people with complaints are more likely to post than satisfied customers. I find it very unlikely that a quality vendor will risk its reputation by commiting fraud.

Either this thread is BS, or people aren't posting negatives to resellerratings which is irresponsible IMHO.
