I buy local now. I don't trust online stores anymore. I've had a bad expierience with Newegg, posted about it here but it quickly got locked. Since I know Anandtech gets all their stuff from them and seem to have a symbiotic relationship, I knew it would get locked quickly, which it did. But the message got out anyway to a few posters who read my thread. Nothing lasts forever it seems, even good customer service tanks too after a few years. Cudos for this stickey though.

I have known newegg.com for less than 2 years and I didn't know they were formerly egghead software. I and my bro ordered few items from them during past 2 years and haven't noticed problems. Recently, I order a Soltek nForce 2 motherboard and I received it promptly. Everything looked okey except IDE and mini-floppy cables in a bag. It had seal but looked like someone tear the bag instead of opening its seal. And also, the motherboard was DOA and I had to RMA it and send it back. They are very prompt with approving RMA and send replacement so their customer service is top notch, I admit that and I do hope they have sent used or returned motherboard by mistake.

This could be source back to the Abit themselves. I got one from essencompu.com as well. There was like transistor or capacitor soldered on the CPU fan header. There were traces of glue or something on the bottom as if it was on the table for repairs. I got the same board from Fry's and it was brand new without this problem. However, the board works fine but the Temp reading on the CPU is 20C off. Other than that the board is stable. This could be due to the large amounts of returns to Abit and had to resort to this bad practice. Abit boards are never sealed. Some retailers will put the ties on the board to prevent accessories from falling out.

Egghead merged with OnSale and was then bought by Outpost who is now owned by Fry's. So who buys Newegg? Tiger Direct?

Yeah, I'll have to post there once I have some time.. I have about 6 hours of homework. Figured I'd check the thread out to see if there were any updates.

This continues to bother me about this whole thread. Its been weeks since you started it, and lack of time seems like a thin exuse to me. I'm not understanding your not posting to RR or AVR (except the obvious), you lose credibility in my book.

The real issue here IMHO is Newegg and Used parts shipped for New parts. Surely someone from Newegg has seen this thread...some kind of posting or announcement that they are looking into these allegations and pursueing some resolution is in order.

I swear I see this all the time.... NewEgg is totally unrelated to egghead... Amazon bought egghead quite some time ago.

I can't say I've had any problems with Newegg. Infact they have been the best so far. Fast shipping, great customer service, easy to RMA if needed etc...

UPDATE: Just recieved an e-mail about my RMA from newegg after 3 e-mails and a phone call and a week of no replies.

Interestingly enough I also got another automated e-mail from them saying that they had just recieved my RMA dated today the 15th of september 2003. However, I got another one a week ago saying the same thing(Which I know was accurate because my UPS tracking showed as delivered). I'm beggining to wonder if it is perhaps growing pains? regardless it is still a problem.

Another note: The e-mail I recieved was polite and to the point, but not friendly. It made no mention of my previous correspondence (which was inlcuded in the e-mail I sent them and there in the reply from newegg) and there was no apology or explanation for what happened. That's unacceptable to me but I am done sending them e-mails about it, because they don't seem to do any goo. Now I will just wait and see what happens.

I hope that everyone else will start having their issues resolved soon as well. Of course, I still have yet to actually recieve my parts, they have not been shipped yet, I will update as to their condition when they get here.

I would have appreciated an apology for the delay or at least an explanation. Perhaps there is a problem in the RMA department, but on top of that they might want to retrain their customer service reps in being a little nicer in e-mail when there was a problem. The fact that I even HAD a problem was totally ignored by the customer service rep.

To be fair when I ordered and had a problem the customer service representative I spoke with was very polite and helpful, just as everyone is used to.

Ditto to Akers comment!!!!
It should be obvious that there's a problem with Abit, not NewEgg.
NewEgg has attempted to contact the originator of the thread butthere's been no answer...they are trying to right the perceived wrong...as they ALWAYS do!!!!
I've spent mucho doneros with NewEgg($4000++++) and occasionally get a funked up piece of hardware. I've yet to have ANY problem getting NewEgg's customer service staff to get it right...not once.
I just rma'ed a stick of memory which wasn't compatable with picky old mobo...no restock fee, no problem. I just called the 800# and they were quick and cool.

Anybody who's had a funky mobo should call the 800# and talk to the CS staff. They want you to be happy, loyal customers.

BTW...the CS manager read this thread after I emailed him. He wants y'all to use the 800# to get these "problems" resolved. Give them a chance!

I personally never expected that newegg was doing anything all that underhanded, even if I might have feared it. My problem was with CS. If you read the thread right about it explains it. I DID cal the 800 number and it didnt seem to help much.

As I said earlier- poor customer service. I have one phone line (my cell)- no calls from newegg.
I have no e-mails from newegg. I EVEN CALLED THEM TO REMIND THEM THAT THEY NEED TO CALL ME BACK

it should be obvious that this guy works for newegg. Why the hell would I be whining in this thread if these guys contacted me?
At this point I don't care if it's neweggs problem or abits problem. Newegg has NOT followed up with me even after I reminded them to contact me! You say your "sales manager" has even seen this thread YET I STILL HAVENT HEARD A DAMN THING.

Here's my Newegg CS story. I order from Newegg about once a week lately and rarely have problems. A couple of weeks ago I ordered a "refurb" case. They shipped it out but Fedex lost it at the Memphis hub. I called Fedex when I didn't get it and requested a trace but they refused saying the sender needed to make the request. I emailed Newegg CS and explained all of this but the CSR responded as if he only read my first sentence then told me to do the same thing that I already attempted to do with Fedex. I called the CS number he gave me twice to talk to a person who apparently handles this sort of thing but I finally had to leave a message. Next thing I know I get an email from this person saying my package was lost and they could not replace it since it was refurb so they were refunding my money. Fedex called me back a few days later and asked the status of my inquiry. They said the sender did not request a trace. So it sound like Newegg did not even attempt to issue a trace with Fedex. This all turned out ok in the end because they applied the CC credit pretty fast. I know it's not Newegg's fault that Fedex lost the case but it bugs me that they did not even try to trace the package. This refurb case was a pretty good deal and I would have preferred the case over the refund. Maybe it turned out better this way since the case could have been damaged to the point I would have to RMA it anyway. Oh well, sorry for being so long winded.

And that's even twice it's been said in this thread (see page 2).
