Whats wrong with that? It seems reasonable to try to resolve the issue first in a somewhat reasonable amount of time.

Give me a break, he's already using a public forum to resolve the issue. Newegg is no small vendor that needs "extra time" to resolve this matter. IMHO, not posting to resellerattings or Anandtechs takes away from the posters credibility, takes away opportunities for the vendor to respond in a public manner and allows abuses like shipping used items for new as the poster claims, to continue. First he has time to post and bump the thread, but yet not enough time to post to RR. Now his excuse is that he wants to "give them a chance". Good grief

it seems to me like this is neither your problem or your concern. I am smiply tyring to resolve this issue with newegg. I fail to see the importance of your postings other than somebody who's got a lot of time on their hands to express their opinion. While I welcome your opinion please do realize at the same time it means very little to me.

and UPDATE- good news this time- NEWEGG EMAILED ME!
Carl from newegg sent me an email I will post it in the 1st post

I got my parts in from Newegg today. Everything was new and sealed in their packaging, since I ordered everything at "brand new" prices. CPU, motherboard, memory, monitor, speakers, ATAPI drives, etc. worked exactly as they should have. Newegg shipped everything within 3 days. Basically, a perfect experience.

Though, I still have my worries about their refurb motherboard issues when users are purchasing them as new. Still, I haven't experienced this ever, and I've ordered motherboards from Newegg about 5 times in the last 5 months, the last motherboard purchase being just last week.

Take care,

Evan

Please do, I'd be interested to see if there are more than just a handful of people that are getting refurbs instead of brand new boards.

In the last month I have ordered (frm Newegg) a new Shuttle Mb, ATI AIW video card, CDRW and some memory (3 sep orders). Everything was delivered in 3-4 days, all sealed and all worked fine! Have never had to use CS yet so cant comment there. But otherwise......a happy camper here!

Definately dissapointed with them. No way to tell looking at the package because it isn't Corsair sealed in any way. Corsair really should seal the package in some way.

I had a similar situation. I ordered 2x512 Corsair XMS PC3200C2. I tested each stick individually. With one stick I couldn't even install XP. With the other stick I was able to install XP. Tested each stick with Memtest86 and both failed. So I returned the stick that wouldn't let me install XP first. They sent me another stick that was obviously not new. There was a scratch on it and the words on the stick were coming off already. And it was a little dirty. I tested it and it failed Memtest also. 3 different sticks all failed Memtest. So I returned that stick again and recently recieved another stick that I'm leaning towards being used also but not so obvious this time but it passes Memtest w/o any errors so I'm keeping that one and will be sending the other bad stick back tomorrow. So I do believe that Newegg sends used parts as new. So might not be an Abit issue only. I have ordered from Newegg at least 10 times in the past year and this is the only major problem that I have had. But with my experience and this thread I'm a little more worried now when it comes to ordering from Newegg.

So what exactly are you doing about this? You should definitley report this, selling something like this used as new is illegal. Are you paying for the return shipping on everything?

Tomorrow I have an RMA's Antec power supply, a soltek MB, and a Barton 2500+ coming. The Barton is retail, and teh box BETTER be sealed. The motherboard I could not find anywhere else. No one else seems to carry it.

Ill post my experiences, but if I get ANYTHING I can tell is used, and newegg wont ship me out a replacement immediatley I will dispute with CC. Selling used equipment is unacceptable.

Just this month I ordered a Linksys wireless router from Newegg. When I set it up the internal interface was DOA so there was no way to connect to it and configure it. Rather deal with RMA's and paying shipping costs I simply bought another at Best Buy, put the DOA one back in the box and returned THAT one to Best Buy. Ruthless I know but it's a cruel world. I did tell Best Buy it was DOA so they won't restock it.

yeah, well thats not really all that bad. I mean, the manufacturer gets it back either way so why does it matter where it comes from?

If my Antec PSU comes back dead again ill do the same

im just worried about my motherboard

I dunno about this, I just orderd a full computer setup for my brother (mobo, cpu, DVD, HDD, FDD, Vid card, Ram, Monitor, and Case) and had no problems with anything in it. All where new and sealed (except the hdd which was OEM and wrapped in a taped bag) and none where DOA. I have not spent the amount that some people have at newegg but I bet I am approaching $4000 worth in the last 5 years. I have only had one DOA and they took it back no problem. Now, I'm not saying that other peoples claims are wrong, just that newegg seems to still do just fine in my book.

As for not calling you back, that is a little annoying and I would also be mad, maybe they are busy or maybe they just don't like you just kidding...

I recently orderd a mobo for myself (I orderd my brothers a month ago from newegg) but I did not get it from newegg. The reason is I wanted to make sure my NF7-S was ver 2.0 so I orderd it from eXcaliburpc. Of course it was not sealed as they update all boards to the latest bios and do some testing, I think. Anyway, this is just a vote in favor of newegg as they have never let me down.

P.S. Good luck to you all getting your disputes settled, don't loose faith quite yet

At this point I will just RMA the remaining bad module and hope that the one they shipped me works. I am paying the return shipping but its only like $3. If I get a good stick then I will just forget about this 1 bad experience with Newegg. If they send me another bad stick then I will be looking else where when I shop online. I use to think Newegg was perfect but now my view of them has dropped a lot but I still consider Newegg one of the better online stores.

I wouldn't flat out flame Newegg for a few mistakes. I agree with Evan, lets see if anymore people get this problem, it might just be a small percentage of their customers. You should keep in mind that Newegg is growing at a tremendous rate. They get more internet and word-of-mouth exposure everyday. Or at least I tell my friends to stop shopping at PCClub and start shopping at Newegg (they're dumb, they like to buy things at 33% markups). You probably also know that they have a ton of refurbished items and I bet sometimes they get it stocked in the wrong place. The sheer volume of orders must be hell on the employees because I know it takes quite a bit of manpower to get an item processed and shipped in 1-2 days. All my orders arrive in 3 or less because I'm pretty close to Newegg (200-300 miles maybe?). I'm sure this was just an honest mistake. I mean it could happen the other way around. I ordered an IC7 refurb and all the parts came sealed. I assume that maybe the user returned it promptly because he/she found a better deal or maybe a new one got mixed up with the refurbed ones and I just got a blazing deal. Other people have gotten extra things from Newegg, but like human nature, don't start complaint threads because it was actually beneficiary to them. Sorry for your DOA boards, sorry for your inconvenience, but like every other loyal Newegg customer I haven't any problems yet and I'd say give it another shot.

As upset as I was I agreed with you as well. I had RMA problems but I decided to give them a shot and I ordered a motherboard a CPU. They are both due today, my RMA and my new mobo and cpu. I will update tonight and let everyone know how my stuff came in.

Well

I got my stuff from newegg today:

The PSU shipped from new jersey was in new condition. Functions just fine

The soltek motherboard was totally new and in great condition. Works perfectly

The retail 2500+ was fine as well. Oh, and with stock cooling it hits a 3200+ overclock with no problem.

Wonderful value. Faith returned in newegg.

I know that I am just one more person with an opinion, but I really don't think that the problem is just with ABIT when purchasing through Newegg. I've shopped with Newegg in the past, and my latest purchase was an IS7, P4 2.6C, Geil PC3200 (2x256), and a Maxtor OEM 60GB HDD. All came new as expected, in sealed boxes and EXCELLENT packing. In fact, I had a hard time finding all my stuff out of the box because it was so deeply packed with packing peanuts! I did receive half my order from CA and half from NJ.

So I would say, after reviewing all the posts, that there is only a few problems that have come up. I looked over Newegg's ratings before purchasing (Resellerratings.com) and didn't see as much a fuss brought up as has been brought up here. Now, I'm not trying to cause waves here or offend anyone, but I think there are just some people in this world that can't live life without complaining and/or bad mouthing someone! I've had some experience with this... I've got a few of them in my family

So, keep it cool and relaxed! Life is too short for you to find problems in everything and everyone!

Try to have a good day! - what's so wrong with that???

This newegg thread troubles me because I use pricewatch to find the lowest price. If I see a reputable vendor on the first page of the product I'm looking for, I'll drop a few extra bux to get the peace of mind.

Also, if this is a common problem, why does AT keep pimping newegg? Can't the mods yank their chain super hard and get them to clean up their act or is this about advertising $$$? Are we the sheep and the Mods the sheperds allowing a few high-paying wolves in to feed from the flock?

It bothers me also. If I was Newegg, I'd have a CSR personally responding to the claims made here- and not in the form of some generic letter or email. It is users on forums like these, that have brought them to where they are today. You know they're reading these posts and ignoring the problem, hoping it will go away.

Perhaps.

My latest dealings that I had trouble with newegg over worked out just fine in the end. The only problem I ended up having was that their service and communication was really, really SLOW. It took them 2 weeks from the date they recieved my RMA to send me out a replacement. That is unnacceptable. PERIOD
