Well, since my other computer was SO old and wasn't upgradeable I haven't even had a chance to consider the gaming possibilities yet. But for right now I'm going to just enjoy having this new one. Eventually I was thinking of investing in a Radeon? AGP card. And I wanted then to upgrade my sound card too, but later...much later...after I recover financially from this.
I put everything together last night though. It was SOOOOOO hard too. There wasn't really much of a guide saying, put this there, plug that there, this means this. But, I managed to get everything together and turned it on and had terrible problems after that. Although everything was installed correctly, it was reading Win Me off my HD and only going into "safe mode". My CD Drives which were detected in BIOS weren't coming up. My floppy drive wouldn't read. I didn't know what was wrong.
It wasn't until after I went to bed, brought everything to work, and tried to think again this morning about it that I figured it out. My jumper on the board was set to normal instead of configure, so I worked that out so when it booted it would read directly from my CD drive where I have XP waiting to be fully installed. And now it is! Yay! So tonight I have to install all my old programs and connect to the net to get all the XP updates but I am so happy it works and that I didn't break anything.
Also (regarding the actual topic), I took a closer look at my box from NewEgg for my case and it looks like it was dropped. However, it's hard to say whether it was their fault or happened during shipping. But the damamge to the case amounts to one side being misaligned and one of the back card slot things being bent slightly. Not enough damage to bother sending back. It's also a little weird not to get things in orginal packaging like my sound card. I hope that isn't damamged from them boxing it with my memory and squishing the little things that stick out. When I get the drivers installed and speakers hooked up I'll know then. Overall, I have had a very good experience with NewEgg. I give them an 8 (out of 10) -because of the trouble I dealt with over the address verification.
