I order something and use my new card and click sumit order then it took me to off-site that says it took me to my bank site and theres a button for "do not activate" and "activate now"

i got confused. I order from newegg before and it never took me to off-site to type all my card info number and name all over again. I feel uncomfortable typing all my card info on a off-site site. it is white blank page and some text on the middle asking to fill out giving my card info and button to activate.

I was so uncomfortable that I just close the browser and decide to order all over but guess what? I got the email from newegg confirming that I placed an order.... how could that be? since i close the browser. I check my newegg account "order history" and there is blank.

so is my order placed or not?

and most of all what is the weird off-site it took me? why it want me to type in my card and activate? is this normal?

Yeah, a lot of the banks use Verified by Visa or Mastercard Securecode to verify your purchases through. Don't have to sign up for it though from what I have seen, just an extra layer of security.

You're reading paranoidnewsidiot.com, there is a story and link to a new laptop and you want to buy this new product.

What do you do?

1) Click the mother effing link like any other sane person would.
2) Post a thread on AT asking about it?
3) Post a thread on AT asking what do I do?
4) I give up.

Take your credit card out of it's protective shield.

Flip it over, do you see Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Discover on it?

Visa.com - probably goes to an internet porn site, yep not legit.
MasterCard.com - probably goes to a Russian iPod smuggling ring.
AmericanExpress.com - probably goes to CasioTech's closet.
Discover.com - probably goes to your next door neighbor who is using a high powered antenna right now to decipher your every key stroke.

Yes it's optional but it's offered by your credit card issuer to PROTECT you.

WTF seriously

Yeah, Newegg is one of only two places I've ever ordered that did Verify By Visa.
