I wonder how many points they'll give out for participation. Probably not much.

Might be the beginning of SPAM reviews... unless you have to be a verified buyer...

If you already got a account are you automatically enrolled? How do you know what eggpoints you get? Is it randomly applied to certain items?

If you have an account you are automatically entered.

Eligibility
You are eligible to participate in the EggPoints Program so long as you have a registered account on any of these Newegg websites: Newegg.com, Newegg.ca, and Neweggbusiness.com. EggPoints cannot be cross-applied or combined among these three websites. Non-registered customers or “guest checkouts” are not eligible to participate.

Earning EggPoints
EggPoints are earned through your purchases of eligible items*, your participation in EggPoints Promotional Rewards Events**, and/or offered to you as courtesy from time to time. If you make a purchase of certain eligible items, your EggPoints are earned and will be available for use thirty days (30) after the invoice date. When you earn your EggPoints through purchases, you earn one (1) point for each pre-tax dollar that you spend on an eligible item after instant rebate, promo code and/or other discount. EggPoints may not be earned on purchase amounts paid with previously earned EggPoints.

*Eligible EggPoint items will be specifically identified on our website.

**EggPoints Promotional Rewards Events offered from time to time may include, but are not limited to, your participation in any of the following:

  • Using the wish list feature on our website
  • Writing product reviews
  • Subscribing to our email newsletter
  • Registering as a new customer
  • Participating in our promotional sweepstakes
  • Posting Q&As
  • Sharing our website links on social networks
  • Using special payment methods using PayPal, BML, NPA, V.me and/or Google Wallet

EggPoints Redemption
Once your EggPoints are available to use, you have 90 days to redeem them before they expire. When using or redeeming your EggPoints, one hundred (100) points are equivalent to one dollar ($1.00). EggPoints are applied after tax in the same way as when using a gift card. EggPoints can be redeemed to purchase any Newegg items and any other brands' e-gift cards, but cannot be used to purchase a Newegg e-gift card. When redeeming EggPoints, calculation will be made in the following order of priority: (1) first, any promo code and/or combo discount is deducted from the sale price;(2) EggPoints are then deducted; (3) any gift card payment is thereafter deducted; and (4) the remaining amount is charged to the credit/debit card. At this time, there is no restriction on the maximum EggPoints that can be redeemed per day.

Lame, you have to spend them within 90 days. I'll never use this then.

You don't know yet how many points it entails. For all you know you might spend $1000 on computer parts one time and see you have enough to get a free game or something.

look like you need a new account.

Which makes no sense, but I bought a couple drives last night, and the status is "packaging," which means the credit card has been processed and accepted, but my eggpoints shows no points and no transactions pending. Maybe it will update after it ships?

Maybe I'm the minority but I no longer buy from newegg. Their prices for the most part are not competitive and amazon does a lot better in terms of shipping speed and price. Microcenter even has better prices. They need to step up their game

I think I'm done as well. Have been eyeing a 7970 lately at the egg. Looks like manufacturers have increased the rebates but instead of the 7970 being cheaper due to the increased rebates newegg has raised the price nullifying the increased rebates.

Use hoverhound for chrome, it automatically compares prices from newegg with other retailers for you instantly in popup when you look at items.

I've found newegg is comparable to amazon on major hardware, since it mostly has free shipping like amazon. However I'm not a big fan of newegg using weird carriers to deliver packages.

It certainly no longer the cheapest. It may be comparable, but all things equal, amazon has much better return policies than newegg and it ships faster. Newegg return policies have more holes than swiss cheese and their DHL smart mail takes more than a week to arrive, I swear, USPS parcel post/first class mail is faster.

I just checked, I spent less than $300 from newegg this year. Five years ago it was not uncommon for me to spend >$1000 a year.

yea, these programs aren't going to get me to shop at their store more, lower prices and good service will.

Have to accrue more points during the 90 day period or they expire. So basically, keep buying stuff or get some points through there random activity rewards.

I just recently built a new rig and had about $700 worth of newegg orders in the last 3 weeks. No egg points for any of them.

Sounds like some are not egg static?

This kind of program often targets a business buyer who isn't spending their own money, but get the goodies from the points.

Originally, I thought everything sold by newegg qualifies, just like all the reward points programs ran by other websites. I made an single invoice order of $1764 on Nov 1, and had not seen any points earned or pending as of now, Nov 10.
So I contacted their CS, and took them a while to find out why there is no points will be earned on my order. Also I asked them to actually find a product that qualify for those points. It took another 2 mins for them to find one.

So basically the following is what I have learned from the CS.
1: $1 dollar spent (pre-tax, pre-shipping-charges) = 1 point = $0.01 dollar amount
2: Points will expires in 90 days
3: As of now, only very very few items qualify for egg points (you'd be lucky to find one).
4: the funnest of all, there is no way to search for items that actually reward you the points.

That has "Major Fail" written all over it.

At least, with Buy.com's "SuperPoints", you would get them on basically any purchase.
