Is the power supply set to the correct voltage?

At this point I think you need to take the case out of the picture. Do a setup of only the basic parts outside the case and see if you see power.

If you still don't get anything, sounds like a bad power supply.
I couldn't find any switch to change the voltage on the power supply. So I should take it out and try to power it on by touching the the two power pins with the tip of a screw driver?

How am I supposed to connect the case fan to the atx connector?

Ok. I pulled out the motherboard and tried shorting the pins, no luck. Put everything back together paying attention to standoffs again. Still nothing. I think all that's left is to test the psu. If that does work then it's the motherboard.. How do I test it using the case fan? I can't seem to figure out how to attach it to the atx connector with the above diagram..

Thanks again for all the help

you make your own wire.and once the psu runs.try the 4 pins molex with a voltmeter or a case fan to see if you get power out of it

I think you are correct and your PSU is DOA. A good model, you just got a bad one. Hope it won't be too difficult to return.

The fan wouldn't be connected to the jumper wire. The jumper wire is to get the power supply to power on without being connected to a motherboard.

Directions here:

If you wanted to hook a case fan up to the PSU for testing purposes you would need a molex to 3 pin adapter similar to this:

Ok. While I did not test the PSU. I took out the PSU from my own working personal computer and connected it to this build. No go. So I think we can safely assume that it's the motherboard that's dead on arrival. Correct? Shall I start the RMA process?

I would try the CX430 in your computer since you already have them both out.

Ok. Did it. It works! So it's clearly the motherboard.. Oh well, hopefully the return will be fast and easy.. Here's a pic of the psu powering my pc and the case fan of the new build.. I left that plugged in..

Ah, wow. The board is 10x less likely to be the problem, and for some reason I thought you had tried a swap (lots of posts though) so good job staying on that and finding the real culprit!

I'll post an update when the replacement motherboard arrives. Hopefully, it will work no problem..

To avoid problems I always run off a new build on the mb box with just a small oc with the stock cooler.
Once it is stable it goes into the case with a better cooling etc.

Ok. Update everyone. The new motherboard works! The old was DOA!

Thanks everyone for all the help! You guys really narrowed it down to the right issue..

You had a super tough second build but I am glad it has been figured out. That is not a normal experience and I have not seen a DOA motherboard before. You have paid your dues. Your next build will go much smoother.
