Yea that makes sense. Its really an indictment of society at large that someone like that is able edge through. But again that surely is why money flows and full disclosure, transparency, is a mandatory property of said system. I mean otherwise it sounds like its already corrupted.
Yes, I think we notice all these various cracks and issues with our system for one reason - one of our two political parties doesn't care about the structure and function of our government anymore. Hard to run a democracy in that situation.

Why is it that officials are not required to pass a secret or top secret security check? Same here… You cant even join the national guard with the slightest ink on that paper… But running for office? No problem.

Way back in the 1960's.The Supreme Court found Powell v. McCormack that Congress may only exclude a duly-elected member if he or she fails to meet the specifically enumerated Constitutional qualifications for office – i.e. being at least 25 years old, seven years a citizen of the US, and an inhabitant of his/her state at the time of election. The Federal Contested Elections Act governs how the House proceeds if the member’s election is contested, but that law requires the loser to file a notice of contest within 30 days of the election being certified.

Any opposition research needs to be done during the election period to determine if he's a fraud, criminal or security risk and all other character issues.

And to think getting a BJ in the oval and lying about it was once an impeachable offence.

Oh hell who am I kidding. If it's a Democrat who does it then it's still an impeachable offence. If it's a Republican it's a nothing burger.

Well, thats the upside to be a messenger of god, all you have to do is say “im sorry” and all is forgiven. Carry on. Satanic dems just dont wield power like that.

Yeah in two decades they went from ‘lying in a civil deposition requires the president to be removed’ to ‘the president attempting a coup is no big deal’.

Well either that or they never had any principles to begin with.

George Santos was on some NY police podcast called "Police Off The Cuff " episode #37 about 2 years ago talking about running for congress. There is a very ironic part in the interview that i thought people would find funny in that 1 of the hosts (a detective) called Santos a legit guy as he can smell Bullshit a mile away.. The exact quote which I find funny:
@11:45 Mark Demayo:
"I am impressed, my art is sniffing through bullshit.. I Could smell a bullshit artist a mile away. Your legit (George Santos), you know your stuff. I am very impressed."

Ironic,

If there were ever a good reason to storm the capital and prevent the seating of a representative now is the time and with good reason.

Dems would never do it nor would I endorse. Unlike the Republican Party where lying and fraud is a feature not a bug, Democrats have honor and integrity

A good reason to be a member of that party

Considering that the Repub party has been increasing their efforts toward dividing the nation in order to seize control of it for decades on end, principles, ethics and morals are what they needed to shed themselves of in order to accomplish their primary goal. For them, there's no turning back seeing as if the apparent shift in demographics is not on their side. It seems there is no turning back for them from what they see as their only hope for retaining any semblance of control over the federal side of things political.

This is just eating at me more. I can't even volunteer to help clean up the lunch room at my kids elementary school without a background check.

We recently found out that the secret service was compromised with a foreign agent.

We now have at least a couple candidates running for GOP seats that can't even tell you who they worked for.

And no one cares.

These are people allowed access to national security and allowed to create and control foreign and domestic policy.

We have no guardrails preventing the installation of a foreign asset.
Boy Scout, Girl Scout leaders have more vetting.

Yep. I noticed how that demographic leans heavily conservative. The Repub party went from proudly arrogant, down to seething mad, further down to humiliatingly frustrated and at present in the dirt and desperately ruthless.

In most cases, they aren't even saying that. They're saying "I didn't do it" even after being caught red handed. In far right world, their people never do anything actually wrong. The prosecution is "politically motivated" or its "a false flag operation" or the person was "set up." Usually by a cabal of evil leftists. Their so-called news media reinforces all of this. They live in a completely different reality.

I agree. In fact I think if they learned one thing it's you should never apologize under any circumstances. You lie, shift blame, attack people reporting on your conduct, etc., but you never admit fault. At first you say it never happened and if incontrovertible proof comes out to the contrary you either continue lying that it never happened or say that it was actually good.

Yup. So far Santos is trying to spin/minimize his lies, which is sufficient given that his base doesn't care. But he's now under federal investigation for his finances. If he's charged with a crime related to that, we're going to hear how its "politically motivated" and the "deep state" is persecuting another republican. Republican voters buy this because they have the emotional maturity of children who think they and their "team" never does anything wrong.

You could categorize what this Santos did as a nice heaping of Republican election fraud. Although it probably wouldn't stand up in court.

The voters did not elect him. They elected who he claimed he was. They elected a guy who got degrees from certain schools. They elected a guy with employment experience with certain big name finance companies. They elected a guy with certain life experiences that they thought aligned with their values and would help him represent them in congress.

Fraud: the intentional use of deceit, a trick or some dishonest means to deprive another of his/her/its money, property or a legal right.

McConnell's modus operandi over the past couple of decades is proof positive of your observations.

I'd like to find out who put Santos up for the job along with the financing that went with it.

Secondly, I'm wondering how did the Santos cabal of string-pullers and influence peddlers ever think they could get away with the scam to begin with. As nakedly blatant it was how Santos and his bankrollers were about forging his certs, it's if Trump himself was running the operation.

George Santos: ["I made a mistake, and I think humans are flawed and we all make mistakes," he said.]

This is clearly something a cold-blooded baby-eating reptiloid alien would say.

Although this was reported on in the summer - There seems to be all kinds of GOP election fraud going on in NY elections these days

"The Republican elections board commissioner in Rensselaer County, N.Y., is scheduled to plead guilty after he was accused of carrying out a brazen scheme that allowed him to cast votes in other voters names"
