My wife and I were at a John Waters (the film director/writer) Christmas show last night. He opened up a Q&A session with the audience after his set. Someone asked him if he ever turns down work. He responded that he was recently asked to sit down and conduct an interview with George Santos. Waters says that was the fastest he ever turned something down.

We were in disbelief at that. John Waters interviewing Santos could have been hilarious.

He most likely would have been well paid for that interview. But there was no way Waters would sully his own integrity and self respect in that way. Besides, Santos would be to easy of a joke for him, and as he said in the show "I only make fun of the things I love and Trump".

Santos is standing his ground and planting his flag in quicksand in order to convince himself that whatever integrity and legitimacy he conned people into believing during his election campaign is still marketable despite the fact that he got his ass literally kicked out of office. Sounds reasonable in that it takes the power away from religious assholes using ancient Arab folk tales as some sort of guide for government policy.

I don't disagree with the position presented in the article.

Civil Unions are more in spirit with our laws.
Marriage is bound by sectarian nonsense.

All the current tax and legal benefits applied to marriages should be extended to all civil unions and the language of marriage should be phased out.

It's the same thing by a different word. Basically every society on earth has marriage, or something similar, not just Abrahamic religions. Lots of better things to spend resources on than changing the word "marriage" to "civil union" in thousands of places.

At the very least. I mean, did Bowie just stick with "Ziggy Stardust" for the rest of his career? I want to hear the new backstory. The tragic deaths of his parents in Stalin's purges, his dramatic escape over the Berlin Wall, his career as an olympic athlete...It's like he's barely making an effort any more. Lying about Biden lying has a certain frisson of hypocrisy, but it's not really up there with his past glories.
