While anyone's yet to pass production judgement on Sony's new A77, it is fair to say it's potentially heading for a 'glass half full' situation sensor-wise. And I'm assuming the same is going to be true of the NEX-7. I'm a little disappointed as my previous plan was to choose between the NEX-7 and the SLT-A77.
I'm looking to move on from the NEX-5 sooner than later for one minor-seeming but particularly important reason: Viewfinder. While doing that, I'd also like higher image quality. Now since I've ordered a superzoom and I also have pocketable and APS-C P&S's, I think I'm pretty well covered in the lower-end do it all segment. And I can as a result tolerate something bigger than a NEX.
The 5N will be a cheaper upgrade of course since I can keep my lenses but it's not like I have loads of glass floating around. But it would bring only an incremental (I assume) image quality improvement, and the EVF blocks off the only accessory port if I'm not mistaken.
Due to the way and also the number of times I'll need to call on it, I don't think I can justify a full-frame body - but more an upper-mid APS-C in the SLT-A77's projected price range.
So given that portability is not going to be as much of an issue and that the ability to take good pictures (either in an automatic or manual mode) is more important, what choice should I be making?
Specific recommendations and reasons for it, please. Many thanks
