is this: Downhill, after engine shutoff, coasting?
cuz i can get 99 mpg in the Tahoe doing that.
Lithiom ion batteries have about 2x the storage capacity of nimh, so that would effectivly double the battery only range.
Is the hybrid tahoe going to use nimh or lithium ion?
Remember though that the batteries are also charged through means like regenerative braking... Which still isn't free energy, but it is free energy in the sense that it would be wasted in any other automobile.Originally posted by: 91TTZ

But that's only improving the storage capacity of the batteries. They still need to be charged by burning fuel, and I'm wondering how they're burning that fuel more efficiently to get the improved mpg.

Yes, because the oil companies are in control of Toyota and every other automobile manufacturer in the world.

No, when all cars get 4x the gas mileage, they'll just charge 4x as much for gas.
