Next Generation Woes

Hey, I have a couple of questions on the new standards coming out. These questions have been bothering me because I've been thinking of building a new system at this transition time and I'm not sure whether or not the new standards are a big deal:

DDR2: Right now, is this faster? I notice a lot of DDR2 are 533MHz, does this mean that we'll have to use a 3:2 multiplier on 800MHz P4s? Won't that introduce a lot of latencies?

DDR2: Does dual-channel still work w/ DDR2?

DDR2: What uses DDR2? Is it the CPU that has to support it or does the mobo handle it?

PCI-Express: Does PCI-Exp and DDR2 go hand in hand on mobos?

Prescott: Do the P4E's and P4C's work on the same mobos or are they diff sockets?

SATA: any advantages right now other than cable management?

right now i believe ddr-2 is no faster due to latency.
you can have pci-e without ddr2. i915 and nforce4 both have solutions
p4c is socket 478 and p4e is socket 478 and 775
775 supporting ddr2 and pci-e
i think sata is slowly starting to show performance gain. i changed to it and have been much more happy.

Actually, I was looking at crucial.com, and it seems that for DDR2, 400 is PC3200 (same as DDR1), 533 is PC4200 and 667 is PC5300. So if dual channel can be used for DDR2, a 533 is actually faster than the P4 can handle, no? Is this right?

but doesn't SATA prevent u to overclock ur athlon64 lets say... because no SATA locks are available yet on most motherboards... or is there any mobo with SATA locks ?

i don't believe sata plays friendly with overclocking, but not everybody overclocks.

as far as the speed on ddr2, i saw a good review of patriot multiurpose ram, and it was made to support a broad range of uses, but as the speed increased of the ram, so did the latency.

Since when does SATA have anything to do with overclocking? First I have ever heard of such a thing....

i have never overclocked mine anyway, as i belive it had something in my mobo users guide (k8n platinum) talking about it and things i had read all over internet. here, amdmb, elsewhere
