It makes sounds and plays music and gets loud enough for me and sounds fine to me but, no, I haven't tried hooking it to a decent stereo. I don't think I ever would. It's a $69 tablet, not high-end audio equipment.

i am in need of a tablet to put in my $1000 truck. i dont have high end audio equipment, but its decent enough to where i can tell a difference between my phone and a good pc sound card (used to have a computer in the truck)

my phone's quality is good enough though... just hoping this tablet would be similar

A lot of people use phones with lesser specs than these (and a much smaller screen too!) and are happy with the experience/performance. So how bad can it be really?

Phone development is heavily subsidized by monthly subscription costs and massive levels of sales, cheap prices come from products mature in the market or production volume mistakes. Nokia expressmusic series are excellent for music playback and have dropped to $75 unlocked and shipped from China on ebay. The level of quality between a Nokia cell and a cheap tablet will be immense, but they are not android yet at cheaper price points.

I'd love a cheap android device, but I don't see anything worth owning below $150 to $250, too much compromise in quality in the cheaper stuff.

800x480 kills the deal. Heck that is the resolution of my 2 year old phone that I just replaced because its resolution was too low (at only 4.3 inches).

1024 x 600 would be the minimum I would want at 7 inches.

The new $79 7" Nextbook has that resolution. The cpu is also upgraded to a dual core Cortex A9 @ 1.5 Ghz:

There is also a $99 8" Nextbook with a 1024 x768 screen: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Nextbook-8...vices/23554123

Could be something related to the $134 shipped price I paid for my new Nook HD+ 32GB, the target zone of cheap tablets moves fast.

Sprint has the Samsung Tab3, 7.0 with 4G and Wi-Fi for $49 with a 2 year contract, or $299 w/o contract.
Couple that with one of their lowest price 4G tablet plans, (25 Mb for $5, 100 Mb for $10, or 2 Gb for $15) and you have a very capable entry-level tablet at a decent price...and you're not tethered to a wi-fi connection. With the cheapest plan, that's $169 for 2 years...about the same price the tablet w/o 4G would sell for at most on-line e-tailers.

Not tethered, wow, so I could stream movies in my car by paying a monthly fee instead of watching free via wifi at virtually all fixed locations I might visit.

OTOH as a currently not tethered, ability to do some google searches while a passenger in a car has been missed, but we can always pull through a McD and buy a soda or snack and sit in the parking lot a few minutes mooching the wifi.

You can still use free WiFi with those cheap sprint or T-Mobile plans, there is a toggle similar to the WiFi toggle to turn off the 4g data

The thing desired to turn off is the monthly fee. I'm actually looking at going with the Walmart or something like that Tmobile $30/mo prepaid data plan, something like 2gb/mo.

Any problems with Nextbook 7 since these posts? I just bought one for my mom and 2 for grandkids.
