This will allow you to use your monitor as an HDTV, as long as it supports the proper modes.
As far as what you could use it for... If you subscribe to digital cable, the cable co will bring you out a HDTV reciever so you can watch those cool shows in HDTV. Xbox games are HDTV, as are some PS2 and GameCube.
This is best combined with older, cheaper computer projectors. 640x480 projector + this = 75" or greater 480p HDTV for pennies on the dollar.
You sure about the PS2 and GC. I have yet to see their HD adapters. I know xbox does. I have one. No games in 1080i. 3 or 4 of them are in 720p. Halo is 480p. THPS4 is 720p. The old cartoony game..forgot the name is in 1080i.
I know that the GC and PS2 have some games that run in 480p. Not sure of higher resolutions.
And, the Xbox does have games in 1080i. Two, to be exact: Dragons Lair 3d and Enter the Matrix.
