Lesson learned. Unless it's an iPhone, never buy a phone on release as the value will tank shortly after to get stocks moving.

Android phones follow typical consumer pricing models, they're an expense, not an investment. iPhones are the same, but at a bit slower rate.

Just gotta stay 1 gen behind! Especially nowadays when things don't change all that much...

My mistake was looking at things from a Verizon price perspective, not thinking about buying directly from Google / Amazon / etc. I bet Verizon is still charging $650 for the N6 if they still have any in stock.

Oh well. Next time I will know better.

I've had great experiences on Swappa*, you can always try there if brand new isn't in the budget.

*I was mad that I couldn't get a subsidized phone on Verizon without losing my unlimited data. Swappa made that a non issue since prices there are close to what subsidies used to be before they went away altogether.

I don't know much about cell phones now, but is this deal good enough to just get it if I want a phone? What's an affordable service? Get 64MB I assume?

One poster mentioned it doesn't take an external card, but I am not sure that's really a problem.

With the N6, Project Fi (Google's own service) is an option and is very inexpensive if you aren't a big data guy. $20 a month for unlimited text and messaging and then it's $10 a month per gig. If you don't use all that data they credit you back $1 per 100mb to your next bill.

I average about $27 a month after taxes with Fi. At $299 for the phone plus that bill it's great combo of hardware and cheap service.

How much better is the Nexus 6P? I'm trying to decide between the two and am wondering the 6P is worth the price premium.

6P has a better camera, fingerprint scanner, screen, and higher storage option (128GB). Build quality is a personal taste...I think the N6 is more comfortable in hand and not as sterile and cold under touch as the 6P aluminum. I also think the N6 is more durable being a Motorola built device. They take a beating well.

Battery life is largely a wash between the two. Doze probably works a bit better with the 6P and will push it further when not being used.

The finger print reader is really the "got to have" feature of the 6P. I have it on my 5X and could not go back to not having it.

64mb white is still on sale for 45 min, but on backorder. I'm sold on the googlefi idea, but should I go spend this $300 no need to worry about researching other options?

Update: if I get it, I'm looking at the 32GB, which unfortunately is only in blue. I didn't get quick info on the black Friday deal being worth getting so I missed it, but...

No opinion on my question? If I do get this, how worth it is it for the $300 64MB over the $250 32MB?

For $50 I would get the 64GB (not MB) model, but only you can determine what your storage needs are going to be.

I have the 32GB version which leaves something like 25GB free after the OS is installed. My phone currently has 19GB free and I have been using it since May. For me, 32GB is obviously enough. I don't store much media on my phone. I don't play any mobile game more complicated than Words with Friends. I don't store many photos on my phone. If you on the other hand like to keep a bunch of media on your phone then the extra memory will be worth it.

By the way, the blue version looks fine.

Yes, for $50 the bump to 64GB is absolutely worth it. No brainer choice there IMHO.

Agreed and it should also help the resale value as well. Go for 64GB.

The 64GB has stayed out of stock but the 32GB blue for $250 is back in stock... and one is on the way, the cancel didn't go through when I tried to change to 64GB...

The question now, is it worth keeping it - might be, the review sound good, though one suggested the LG G3 is better, for about the same price... but nexus cheap google service.
