I have the first generation Nexus 7 and love it. I find myself using it much more than my wife's iPad due to the smaller size. Mainly watch videos (Youtube, shows, movies) and play games on it, with some browsing.

I'm thinking of selling my current Nexus to upgrade to the current one. Hopefully, I'll get a decent price for my 32GB (it's in mint condition) and can upgrade to the 32GB variant for around $100 or less.

For those AT'ers that have had both devices, did you see the G2 Nexus as a worthy upgrade to the original? Obviously the full HD resolution, faster processor, and double the RAM are significant. I'm just curious what other users think.

After I replaced my Galaxy S2 with a Moto X, I had a hard time using my Nexus 7 (2012) as my phone was now considerably faster and had a better looking (albeit smaller) screen. I don't think I could've justified an upgrade to the 2013 model if I hadn't had that basis for comparison.

Tegra 3 is notorious for UI stutter, which is largely believed to be the fault of the kernel provided by nVidia. The 2013 is butter smooth and the screen is noticeably nicer to look at.

That's a great point. One thing I don't really care for on the Nexus is web browsing. I've tried numerous browsers and they are all slow. Trying to type in portrait mode makes trying to browse even worse. I generally grab my iPhone5S instead of the tablet.

I had a Nexus 7 2012... Actually I had about 5 of them. I couldn't seem to get one at launch that didn't have loose glass on the left side. But besides that... I was really disappointed with the washed out colors on the original Nexus 7 and the weak sounding speakers. So I ended up giving up on the original Nexus 7

Now I have the Nexus 7 2013 and ASUS/Google have fixed everything I was disappointed with. The build quality is much better, this feels real solid and quality. The display is calibrated and the colors look great. The speakers are louder and sound better. The wifi seems better and supports 5GHz now. So I think this is a big improvement and worth the upgrade.

Yes the 2013 Nexus is awesome and the best tablet in its price range. Awesome screen, good sound, lighter, better build quality, everything about it is better. I'm glad I sold my original N7 to get this one.

Touch accuracy is worse.

2012 felt like a cheap hunk of plastic. 2013 was a tablet worthy of owning (though I didn't keep it for long).
