Hello...

I've read that the nexus 7 comes with a USB connector that'll allow me to transfer files from my computer. I'm presuming this includes android games and kobo books I've downloaded from the internet (reason for this is that I don't have a wireless router). Is this correct?

Thanks...

Should have a charger/USB cord that comes with it. Like most android devices you can connect it with the USB cord to your PC and mount the Phone/tablets storage drive and drag and drop content over to it. You should be good to go.

Yes, you can transfer files using the usb cable included with the Nexus 7.

Yes like others have stated....But why not just get a cheap wireless router to get full use out of the Nexus 7.

Unless you want to run custom firmware, just get a cheap one. There are plenty on Newegg (or presumably any other online store) for under $20 that will most likely suit your needs just fine.

For the most part, you can plug them and and go with minimal effort. If you need to do anything slightly more advanced it's not any more difficult than setting up a tablet so you should be fine.

If you do want something you can easily put custom firmware on, I'd suggest the WRT-54GL. It's older, and limited to b/g, but it's an amazing piece of hardware and you can probably find one for cheap. I'm still using one, but should probably pick up something newer, so if anyone has any recommendations for a good b/g/n router that can run dd-wrt (or tomato) I wouldn't mind hearing about it either.

Anyone knows the phone number to speak to Google as to Nexus 7? I have a problem of my previous Nexus 7 keep showing up in my Google account. I made sure to unroot/relock it prior to return but it's still there.

Either should work.

We have an Asus rep here? Sweet.

For about the last 5 months or so.

Not to take this thread too far off track, but if there are still people who aren't aware that I'm around, feel free to pass the word. While tech support isn't really the primary function of my job, I'll certainly take a crack at things. I can also help sort out issues with RMAs, give updates on RMAs, that sort of thing.

My apologies to TheNewGuy for this minor hijacking of his thread. If anyone has any additional questions for me, I do check PMs and email.

Thank you, Scott. Much appreciated.

My post was off-topic, too, but it seemed like the OP had gotten his answer and I did not want to clutter the page with a simple query. You should not feel responsible.

To OP: Yes, the Nexus 7 works with any micro USB cable. I have like ~10 of them and I just pick one whenever necessary and all of them that I used to connect the Nexus 7 to PC worked fine. There is an option in the Nexus 7 settings, whether to be identified as a camera or a media device. Choose media device and you will see the same explorer structure as Windows for the Nexus 7. You can create/copy/delete folders and files just as you use Windows. You will likely be limited to one action at a time, however, if my experience is universal.

Alternatively you could use Wi-Fi or Bluetooth (for small files) as well, as suggested by others. I like Bluetooth quite a bit for transferring MP3's. I created folder named "Bluetooth," and direct all Bluetooth traffics there.
