I don't see anything about expandable storage on the N6 or the N9. Pipe dream!

The OnePlus One is what, $299 and $349, and it has a large screen. That's an amazing off-contract price for a phone that is pretty solid. Sure, there were hardware faults from cutting costs, but it was impressive how they got that device to that price. The Nexus device having an enormous screen and a low price is quite feasible if Google is going to subsidize it like every other Nexus. We'll see what happens.

Re: Hardware faults -- I don't think OnePlus was actively trying to cut corners. The yellow screen issue was a bad design from the backlighting position and it looks like the newer phones have mostly resolved that issue or mitigated it. I was at the OnePlus and CM event yesterday and honestly the Synaptics thing is an ongoing thing. Perhaps lack of V&V there? The CM team is actively working with Synaptics and getting every update they can in. The latest 38R update fixes like 95% of the touchscreen issues for people and for me its 100% perfect compared to the Nexus 5.

The Nexus on the other hand clearly cut corners in the past. The N4 and N5 had subpar batteries. While the N4 spec was ok, the performance in battery was dismal. The cameras were also subpar, and the N4's 8gb was a joke IMO. I think that's a difference in clear compromising component selection whereas the OnePlus One set its eyes on high end specs all along and maybe failed to execute as well with limited resources (poor support, lack of V&V testing, etc)

Yeah it seems like a Chromebox used as a HTPC, which is what I have been advocating for months.

Intel inside on that is VERY interesting.
Looks like just a rebrand of the IPTV box they were developing ages ago. But FFS, no ethernet?

Also, how does this coexist with Android TV? Does it? Does anyone at Google care about coherence, or are they just throwing shit at the wall?

I'm liking the Nexus Player. Gamepad and a voice activated remote sound cool, though I hope we can use our existing devices to still control things.

Edit: Also now that we have an official 1st party gamepad from Google, here's to hoping that mobile game development takes a more serious turn with games that have actual depth and not just freemium grindfest junk. An official gamepad is one step towards getting developers to make bigger and better games for mobile.

I think in the blog post it said this is the first Android TV device. It is a lot like previous efforts, but even Intel has come a long way since then.

OK.

Still, the Bay Trail GPU is utter crap compared to K1. Wonder what price point the K1 model(s) will hit.

Interesting stuff in Lollipop:

Multiple users for phones. If you forget your phone, you still can call any of your friends (or access any of your messages, photos etc.) by simply logging into another Android phone running Lollipop. Also perfect for families who want to share a phone, but not their stuff.

Guest user for phones and tablets means you can lend your device and not your stuff.

Screen pinning: pin your screen so another user can access just that content without messing with your other stuff.

Sadly no multiwindow like features. I do feel like that will come with the next update, but it would have been absolutely fantastic to see it come with the Nexus 6.

At $649 I will not be getting one. $449 I would do. $649, no way. That is just a stupid price.

The old Nexus 10 had an MSRP of $399 with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage space, just like the new Nexus 9. Obviously the Nexus 9 is a much more powerful, much lighter, and much more polished device in comparison too (and it should be given how old the Nexus 10 is).

Google is able to provide CPU performance, GPU performance, screen quality, audio quality, OS quality, and aesthetics that are as good or better than the next gen iPad Air 2 for $100-$120 less money, so that is a pretty good accomplishment.

@ams23: I frankly cannot take your opinions seriously because I know exactly when you show up in this part of forum.

Right. So when you have nothing of merit to talk about, you will use a silly response like that. Good comeback.

If you want to talk about price, let's talk about price.

Nexus 9 16GB WiFi: $399
iPad Air 2 16GB WiFi: $499

Nexus 9 32GB WiFi: $479
iPad Air 2 32GB WiFi: $599

Nexus 9 32GB WiFi + LTE: $599
iPad Air 2 32GB WiFi + LTE: $729

Even the new Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 is only slightly less expensive than the Nexus 9 in these same configurations, and it has much slower CPU and GPU performance in comparison, all while not having support for the new 64-bit Android "L" operating system too.

where you getting this?

16/32 to me doesn't make sense on a tablet where media consumption is king. If the phone is 32/64gb, why not the tablet?

The pricing and configurations are all over the web now. I posted a comparison to iPad Air above.

Google and Apple would like users to make use of cloud storage and streaming as much as possible with their tablets, and that is why they do not include expandable storage and only include 16GB storage as base options. Unfortunately it is what it is.

Yeah but the phone is 32gb/64gb. I know about the whole cloud thing, but even on the iPad you can buy a 128gb iPad and it has been that way for a long time.

I could see Apple doing the 16/64/128 thing with the iPad this time around. While its still gouging, a 32gb tablet today as the MAX configuration is just a shame.

Edit: Furthermore, there's only 1 LTE model. Remember, a phone is about connecting you anywhere. I'd argue it makes more sense for a phone to rely on cloud storage than a media consumption device like a tablet, which you would obviously load with multimedia to go on a long plane ride or vacation.
