That um, possible paralysis to Tua is the most horrific thing I've seen in the NFL. Ever

Just the way his fingers went all janky and you could see his brain essentially screaming.

Not good.

It was the first thing I thought happened as soon as it did, and here we are, like 12 minutes later.
Most horrific ever? The tackle was clean and wasn't especially violent. What little we know suggests that this was a concussion layered on top of a concussion on Sunday, hence all the wincing when Tua went down and stayed down. I realize that head injuries are particularly scary but I can't imagine this is near the top of worst NFL "injuries." Without specific knowledge (I was too young), I recall the hit that ended Joe Theismann's career was particularly brutal. But they didn't have HD (much less 4k) broadcasts back then or social media, so it probably didn't resonate as much.

Theismann's recollection:
The pain was unbelievable, but it didn't last more than a second or two. My leg snapped like a breadstick. I heard it clearly, it sounded like two muzzled gunshots over my left shoulder. Pow, pow! ... It was at that point, I also found out what a magnificent machine the human body is. Almost immediately, from the knee down, all the feeling was gone in my right leg. The endorphins had kicked in, and I was not in any great pain.

I was watching the live broadcast of the Theismann play.... the "crack" of snapping bone was audible!

Tua was still pretty disturbing though with his hands .... only something like a full-body seizure while lying on the field could have made it a whole lot worse.

i remember a dude who played defense for u of cincinnati having a grand mal seizure after the snap a few years ago, it was pretty freaky

i've had a few of those over the years, but hadn't seen one before

I don't recall if I saw the hit(I was maybe 8 or 9), but there was one Detroit Lions game in the 90s where it took quite a while to get him off the field.

I think it was Reggie Brown.

Theismann's recollection:

yeah, I don't think you understand the ratio of what I'm talking about here, when I mean "horrific." And yes, I fully expected some jamoke to come and here and toss some legendary split bones and hips or whatever.

Yes, we all know about those. It's terrible to watch. it's painful and uncomfortable...it's, eh, broken bones. This isn't the fucking 2nd Dynasty of fucking Egypt when you fully expected someone to die from that, pretty damn soon. Even like, a Pharaoh with their then-omnipotent power...

Bones look nasty but there is nothing horrific about any of those. Not even close.

This was pretty much very to close to watching an upper vertebra shatter and shrapnel through skull, or some crazy shit with the why his brain stem pretty much shut down for a couple of seconds, and did a fucking cache clear, and lucky, very fucking lucky, seems to have rebounded a bit?

I dunno, we haven't heard much, really. I'm still hazy about what kind of mush is left up there right now.

Point is--it was like possibly watching a dude kill another dude on TV.
and I would not be surprised if at this point with the kind of hits he has taken from his college career to now, that dude is might be dealing with some Parkinson's like symptoms at a pretty terrifyingly early age.

and lol, no--that was not really clean. There was a bit of slinging going on there. You can't turn a QB into your shotput hammer, lol.

Yeah, I definitely saw that sling and there were some other tackles on the part of the Bengals where they were going beyond just making a tackle. One, they piledrived someone after the whistle blew. And on a previous play, a Bengal went low on Tua. Given the frequency of incidents...there's enough to suspect some malice on the part of the Bengals' player.

This ain't the first time the NFL machine has played fast and loose with players' health. It's disgusting. Fucking fine the hell out of everybody in that organization and start setting examples

The physician that cleared Tua after his first obvious concussion last week has been fired, apparently. I'm certain that this goes well beyond that guy, though, and I wouldn't be surprised if it turns out that he actually didn't clear Tua.

Lamar is reduced to mediocre is closer to the truth ..... at this point he may be the most overrated QB in the entire league. (which doesn't mean he's not still pretty good!)

And nobody else is watching the Vikings/Saints game in London?

He's beating the strategy that stymied him last year and throwing for much more passing yards than in the past.

So, he's good, not mediocre.

Alparently, the "independant neuro consultant" who cleared Tua after the hit in the Bills game has been fired.

lol, why?

Even if I weren't watching the heavily-delayed Grand Prix in Singapore right now, why would I watch this game? ....I didn't know there was a London game today, for one.

I did say closer not "exactly" .... and until recently I'd been a Lamar-apologist.

Unless he somehow changes his game completely and becomes an accurate pocket-passer with a scary run-threat on the side we may have already seen the best of Jackson. (I'd still take him in a flash over Twinkle-toes Jones though!)

Ten passing TDs. 4000 yards in 16 game pace.

If he feasts against Buffalo today...the case only grows stronger he's become complete.

We'll see .... I've liked Lamar since he hit the league but I'm not sold that the "big change" is going to stick during games when things get rough. My guess is he reverts.

What interests me in the game against vs Buffalo is just how much the Bills defense has actually regressed. (sorry but I'm not concerned about Josh Allen!)

Looks like the Bills O-line is going to be a problem too at least against the Ravens.... lots of pressure!

And as "not sold" as I still am on Daniel Jones OMG we could be the Chicago Bears!

Lamar's passing production this year is considerably abnormal given his history and that there are no big name receivers on that team. Bateman, Robinson...some other dude.

One TD thrown by Lamar already.

Josh Allen is good. But he's a Vegeta figure. Always second-best. Always with a colossal mistake when the kill shot is there--the back foot target to Mackenzie last week would have won the game.
