I can't believe I'm saying this BUT the Giants need to re-sign Odell.
Is Big Blue a realistic Super bowl contender this year?

Ummm.... no.

Are they potentially a playoff team?

You betcha! *(and once you get in you just NEVER KNOW)

Giant's are going down on Sunday, the Lions are going on a 3 game win streak.

I'm sure it will be tougher than the Texans I'll give you that much!

Detroit's "12th man" is a pale shade of Seattle's though! (and "he" was the Seahawks MVP!)

Far as I can see NY is the 3rd best team in the NFC East which will make it extremely tough to win in the postseason since they'll almost certainly be on the road throughout. (if they make it at all)

Probably doesn't help when they don't pump noise through their PA's like they do in Seattle

I hope the Lions revert back to no defense form.

That way Danny Dimes goes full Matt Flynn and the Giants then pay him accordingly, thereby trapping them inbetween his mobile, seductive thighs for years a la Russell Wilson.

it did though! It unlocked some magic key movie beat that made that thing happen, for some reason!

was the point of my post.

....now please post some emo Final Fantasy fan video to explain what I'm saying about magic catches changing everything for no reason. I don't understand that as well as you do.
I am a Final Fantasy casual.

But Bill Belichick and Jenova are good for a fictional mashup in my mind.

Instead of "The Calamity from the skies", it is "The Calamity From the balls of a guy named Steve".

Instead of people with Jenova cells deterioriating mentally to the point of saying "Reunion" all the time, it is instead "DO...YOUR...JOB".

Like Jenova, all Belichickian entities desire to reunite with its "Mother", returning to the Patriots after their path of destruction in an organization is complete.

The Giants are the villainous Shinra, exploiting the powers of Belichick cells for their own gain, and even denying the Buffalo Bills a Super Bowl by possessing the leg of the BIlls' kicker to kick wide.

Very true! (visiting teams have complained)

However you must admit Seattle does have a bit more "enthusiastic" fan-base in-attendance at games then the Lions do on a week-to-week basis.

it helps to actually win games to get the crowd into it, Detroit had some decent teams in the 90's and the Silverdome was pretty loud at the time

Seahawks ever get that from the refs? I couldn't believe that bullshit when i saw it, the Lions players had to beg the crowd to be quite so the Jest could call plays or they were getting penalized, i swear it happened more than once

I always go back to a Lions wildcard playoff game vs the Cowboys where the refs made a series of literally unbelievable calls at the end of the game that lead to Detroit blowing a lead and losing ... can't recall the year unfortunately.

Even Jets fans have had more to cheer about then the Lions faithful historically. (although Neil O'Donnell sucked)

Also it's happened elsewhere:

Remembering the time the NFL tried to silence its fans (The Athletic)

Kinda of nice that Philly is getting smashmouth'd.

Of course, knowing Washington, they'll find a way to fuck up eventually.

We do have some decent young QB's in the NFL right now no question, but so far what we don't appear to have is a legit next "Brady/Manning" level superstar QB beyond maybe Mahomes, Jackson or Josh Allen. (Burrow has potential to join this group IMO but isn't there yet)

That doesn't matter a lot to me as a hardcore NFL fan but it's a real problem promoting that kind of league to "casual" fans who don't generally appreciate a "12 to 9 final score" defensive battle.

This is even more of a problem when the playoffs roll around.

EDIT: It's also VERY interesting how (mirroring MLB previously) performance in the vast majority of older players continues to fall off since HGH testing was fully implemented in 2014 in the NFL.
Sooo many 12-9 games yesterday. Broncos/Titans was arguably the only defensive struggle, but that's every game for the Broncos this season.

Also, Aaron Jones ran for 138 yards despite the Packers not being "solid" in the running game. Packers will still miss the playoffs.

The '72 Dolphins that are still around can celebrate once again!

More interesting by far me is that the Cowboys supposedly great defense couldn't contain him at all. (I watched most of that game)

I don't like the Packers or Aaron Rodgers (as you know lol) but they are a much better team than they played in the first half of this season... which ain't sayin much!

EDIT: Looking at the Packers remaining schedule it's hard to picture more than 4 wins and that's being VERY optimistic with wins vs TN and Chicago. I agree the chances they make the postseason are slim.

I didn't even bother to watch this game, but like I said their awful 3-6 record had a lot to with injuries. And obviously the lack of receivers that could in any way approach the production of Davante Adams (still, I'm not paying him $28M/season).

The Titans have a ridiculously good run defense, which counters the only part of GB that is good. Unless Rodgers catches fire again, the Packers season basically ends next week with a loss IMO. And to correct you, any Aaron Rodgers win over Chicago isn't optimistic. He owns that team.

Christian Watson looked good for the Packers last week so there might be hope?

"Any given Sunday" so there's always hope. Randall Cobb might come back from IR, but it doesn't sound promising when an older player might return from IR. How "healthy" could he really be?

Let's hope Green Bay at least shows up tonight and we get an exciting game!

This years Thursday night matchups have been on the under-whelming side for sure.

Frankly I've always been amazed at the amount of hard/sharp stuff on the immediate sidelines in the NFL and surprised that more players are not injured by it.

Reminds me a bit of the way they USED to design automobile/motorcycle
tracks with unpadded solid objects (often bare concrete!) right next to the track surface in the name of "safety" lol.
