I believe currently Dak Prescott has two playoff wins, so it's a tie with Tom Brady retirements.
Dak Prescott is Kirk Cousin's. Plays well in the regular season, wilts when the lights shine bright. Aside from getting a better second receiving threat, I'm not sure what else they can do to help him. They have a decent O-line, and a decent defense. At some point, you just have to perform.
The Rams broke the bank, and their future, to win a Super Bowl. I think this was worth it from a team perspective. Sure, you'll suck for the next 5 years, but you did something extremely difficult that some teams still have not accomplished. This may be what is needed to get Prescott over the hump. But it's a double edged sword, and no guarantee you will win. Considering the Cowboys are a decent team already, it's questionable how much better they can get by breaking the bank to get better players.
Jerry Jones implied this was what the Eagles have done (break the bank to win at all cost), but I beg to differ on that front. The Eagles have a good young nucleus, though they do have some aging players. What invalidates what Jone said is the fact that the Eagles have a good young nucleus as well as decent draft pick status. In the upcoming 2023 draft, the Eagles will have two first round picks, as well as a second and third round pick. They don't have much in the way of mid-round picks, but it's usually the first four rounds where most players are found. In the 2024 draft, they have practically all their picks including two second rounders and two fifth rounders. And they don't have any trade commitments on any of their 2025 draft picks and beyond at the moment. They are not in the salary cap hell they experienced when Carson Wentz forced a trade. They're in great shape for the future.
Cheer up Cowboys. If the Eagles win another Super Bowl, Dallas will hoist the Lombardi trophy. Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert, who is named for the Dallas Cowboys.
