The one good thing about Amazon having TNF is their Prime Vision broadcast. I wish all football games had that.

Its all relative. If you aren't used to 20 then yeah it feels cold AF. The high in Chicago on Monday is supposed to be 0 degrees. Crazy.

it even varies for me by time of year

20F feels perfectly fine in january or february

but in october or may it feels like death

This is an old house (60's ish). To give you an idea of the heating requirements, the original heating oil tank held 500 gallons.

Over the years, the house was better insulated with siding and storm windows. Unfortunately there are some big windows that are just plate glass. But even with a newish 250 gallon tank and new furnace, I can get by with just a couple of fillups per year.

That's really my only issue with cold weather - it ain't cheap.

I hope Washington doesn't go after Belichick or Carol. It sounds like Carol is sticking around the Seahawks org as it is, and the word on the street from all the Washington beat reporters is they have zero interest in BB, which I am happy about.

I'm willing to bet there's a dark horse. Bills or Steelers will open if the former loses before AFC Championship game (and even then, if somehow the Chiefs manage to make AFC Champ game and Bills lose to them again, might happen too) or if the latter loses in an embarrassing fashion. Maybe Green Bay and/or Dallas too.

I'd also get a chuckle if he goes to Bucs.

I'll be surprised if Carroll doesn't go somewhere. Chargers seem like maybe a good match (seeing lots saying that for Bill, but I don't think so, unless Bill is looking to get into Hollywood, which I doubt).

I could see Bill waiting a year too. He can go play golf and enjoy some time off and wait for optimal situation or spot he wants. But then maybe he'd end up just not being able to get back into the grind (like Cowher). But waiting might would open up some spots or change things. Eagles might be possibility if they lose first round and then underperform next year. Hell Chiefs might even be a possibility in that span since Reid had mentioned thinking about retiring after the Super Bowl win.

If Belichick isn't the GOAT, he's obviously high up in the top 5. But that doesn't mean a team facing a full rebuild should want BB; he's 71 years old after all. I think he needs to join a ready-made team, and usually those are not looking for a new head coach. Beli needs 15 more wins to set the all-time record, and that won't be a lot of fun if he's joining WFT or the Raiders.

Chargers looks like a reasonable fit (they have Herbert, but they also have little cap space). And in the unlikely event JJ can't stand another Cowboys flop, that would likely be a best case scenario for Belichick. Although I had my doubts 8 weeks ago about Sean McDermott, he's safe unless they lose to the Steelers. Or McDermott does something really dumb/fireable like the ending of the 2021 divisional game vs KC.

IMO BB doesn't have a timeline to wait out a year. Likewise for 72-year-old Pete Carroll (who still looks great for his age). If Carroll truly is staying on as Seahawks advisor, I don't think he'll change his mind in 2025. Note that unlike the Patriots, the Seahawks could still trade Carroll if teams keep calling with offers. The Pats already decided it's not practical for their process to hold onto BB until trade offers come in. Carroll said he wants to keep coaching, so I don't think that door is slammed shut for 2024.

Of course the Texans went from bottom feeders to 9-8 division champs in one season, so anything is possible in the modern parity era.

It's massive that they ripped the division title from the Fins, as they could potentially host two playoff games now. I'm far from convinced that the Ravens are a lock for the Super Bowl. As unpredictable as the NFL playoffs are now, compared to say 30 years ago, I suspect that either the Niners or Ravens will not make the SB.

If you look at computer models such as ESPN FPI, only 4 teams have significant championship equity:
Niners
Ravens
Bills
Cowboys

Everybody else is a long shot.

I'd call Pitt dangerous, but between the weather and Watts being injured, there will be no magic of yesteryear. The passing game will likely be crap in the conditions. Running game will then have a hard time getting started without the threat of the big play they now have with Rudolph. Bills should grind them out.
