Happened yesterday, but Dan Quinn to coach the Commanders.

I am fine with that hire. The fact they have adults running the show now with a real GM, I am okay with whatever decision they make at this point.

This seemed like a weird hire to me. Defensive minded coach who I thought for sure would go to Seattle. I'm guessing he probably wasn't their first choice, but since the Lions guy backed out, maybe they settled for him. But, Commander's D was pretty bad so no doubt he can at least improve that. Hiring Kingsbury as OC is probably a good move to get their offense going too. Heard on one of the shows they should make a play for Fields if they can't get the LSU QB or Williams. That'd be interesting.

Quinn was the defense coach for Seattle when they won the SB. Left to become the HC in ATL. I'm glad they didn't rehire him.

I should have wrote "potentially hire Johnson" but otherwise, I paraphrased the reporting from The Athletic. The Commanders were flying TO him, and if the interview went well, I figure they would have made a formal offer. None of this is all that speculative, including saying that Quinn was one of their top three choices:

None of this is all that speculative, including saying that Quinn was one of their top three choices:

You didn't say he was one of their top 3 - you said he was their 3rd choice after the other 2.

No one knows what would have happened at that interview. It was their first possible time they could even do an in person interview with him. And from what is clear now, he wanted to stay with the Lions, assuming that meeting would have gone well is a pretty bold claim to make now.

I can't read that article due to paywall but I've been following this whole thing since before the playoffs even started. I listen to DC sports radio like 6 hours a day. Nobody knows the actual order of who the Commanders wanted as their coach. Everyone is making assumptions but no one knows for sure, other than the people running the show themselves. That stuff is all speculative.

Dan Quinn has been calling into local sports radio shows for interviews since yesterday and I'm really liking what I'm hearing. And I'm not saying like yeah he's going to win a SB year one and all that stuff, not even talking football in general. I just like how personable he is and how he sounds super humble and carries himself with the radio hosts. He just seems like a regular dude who's down to earth.
