Yea I know, good for them to keep the big contracts coming, just I would never pay to watch a pro sports game on TV. If it's not on my cable sub already, zero interest in chasing it down.
I did watch some the TNF games on Prime but only because I already pay for it. Not a fan of their UI though.

Similar to MLB there are only SO MANY really "elite" teams in the NFL and these new WC rounds let teams in that just don't belong.

Point being that we really don't want to see "mismatch" games most of the time in the playoffs. (crap "division-winners" is an entirely separate issue)
Yes. They're letting in 14/32 teams into the playoffs. That's nearly half of the teams. So you just need to be slightly above average to get in.

Yeah when they came out with this just the top seed gets a bye week so they could add two more teams to the playoffs it was such a money grab and really obvious. The playoffs don't mean as much with nearly half the league getting in.

Man as shitty of a season as the Giants had, this is a great postseason for us relatively speaking.

Watching Dallas and Philly implode has been so much fun. Looked like drop passes were keeping the eagles too close but then that safety and now that long TD, I'm feeling pretty good about this postseason 😁👍

Eagles are just getting exposed as fakes. Holy moly do they look bad. Can't get anything going on offense and can't block for crap on defense.

So I'm not hardcore into the NFL, more like extremely casual. So is Love looking like another Favre/Rogers level talent and Green Bay struck gold again or did Prescott and the Dallas defense just shit the bed together in the most spectacular way possible?

I think that the Cowboys had a fair chance of winning if a less capable QB was in the seat.

Love made key throws on third downs or when the pressure was about to get to him.

Games are won or lost on a handful of moments. Where many a medicore Qb would falter, he managed to make key completions.

Love might be Rodgers or Favre yet, but he is already better than the Cousins or Prescott level of QB precisely he made plays that led to scores.

Love threw better off his back foot yesterday more than a number of QBs do from a perfect stance on any given night.

Philly is the 59th team to start the season 10-1. They are only the second such team to not win their division (the 1986 Jets also started 10-1 before losing their last 5). And now the NFC East is the only division without a team in the Divisional Round.

My take on him is that he's had a very solid run of conssitently high performances in his first year starting, and as an experienced, learned, thinking QB that spent enough time watching how to do it and learning from the best. It's a good system, and it's showing fruit now.

It's always too early to judge a first year starter, even when they look this good right now, but all the signs are there, right now. I just think it's remarkable how this organization is able to do this with their first year starters (though I guess Favre was a mercy swap from Atlanta, right? But he started this current QB train, so maybe not the same origin story)

hopefully, though, and years from now, Love doesn't also turn out to be complete human garbage, like Favre and Rodgers, so that would be a nice break in the sequence

This is exactly why it's great. The eagles had that insane start, and Dallas, while not beating many good teams, still had 12 wins and ask that Dem Boys attitude.

This would not have been as good of a postseason if those guys limped into the postseason versus doing it with such good records.

Cowboys have 3 wins at AT&T Stadium
34-14 over the Eagles on Jan 9, 2010 (it was still called Cowboys Stadium here, so perhaps that's where the discrepancy lies)
24-20 over the Lions on Jan 4, 2015
24-22 over the Seahawks on Jan 5, 2019

I stand corrected. I looked it up and thought it was only two.

Nevertheless...it's still pretty embarrassing for an opposing team to have as much playoff wins as you do in your own home stadium.

It will be Lions v. Packers.

I'm OK with anyone but the frickin Whiners.

Got buddies in Detroit, so I'm OK with the Lions.

Or the team Taylor Swift's boyfriend plays for, who comes to Philly a lot to visit Jason Kelce. My brother-in-law is a Chiefs fan.

But NFL fans have an insatiable appetite for moar action, so the inevitable conclusion will be a 16 team field with no bye for the top seeds. It's really not as bad as people here are complaining about; so far it's an extra 2 games per year. It's cool to whine that the #7 seeds are getting shellacked, but how many people expected the Cowboys, Browns and Eagles to all get dismantled? (The Cowboys BY a 7 seed, no less.) Furthermore, the playoff chase at the end of the regular season gets a lot more intriguing with that extra playoff team. Personally I'd like them to leave it as is, but it's a weird imbalance to allow just 2 teams the bye week. This week's games didn't quite live up to wild card expectations, but we're treated to a better divisional round (at least in the AFC).

At least the NFL playoffs are nothing like MLB, with its weird wild card setup (but otherwise relatively compact playoffs schedule) or the NBA with its interminable playoffs. The NBA won't shrink its 16 team field, but the first round used to be awesome when it was a best of 5 series and anything could happen.

My take on him is that he's had a very solid run of conssitently high performances in his first year starting, and as an experienced, learned, thinking QB that spent enough time watching how to do it and learning from the best. It's a good system, and it's showing fruit now.

Jordan Love actually had a rough patch just before about the halfway mark; where everyone was laughing that he was a bust, and the team had basically no playoff chances. Sports fans like to be prisoners of the moment and it's way too early to declare him a future star. If he plays a bad game against the elite Niners D, the same casual fans will quickly opine that he's a fraud. But since that halfway mark, Love has been fantastic; and we have this juicy setup next week between what could become two excellent QBs.

IIRC Favre wasn't some "mercy swap"; the Packers new GM Ron Wolf had wanted Brett Favre in the 1991 draft and then went out and acquired him.

It would be very hard for Love to be as shitty a human being as either Mississippi welfare queen Favre or Kaaron Rodgers.
