Burrow gave his lineman katana's
Cousins was the nice Christian family guy who happened to play quarterback. He was the nicest person on the team and just had that "team comes first" mentality and talked about it. He worked hard and you could tell he loves the game of football and played it for the passion. He also knew that the team needed more help than just a QB and came off as though when it came to negotiations, that he would take a deal that would allow the team to pay him and also be able to afford the other pieces needed.

But then it came time to talk contract and he just was looking out for himself and held out to get the franchise tag, twice, setting an NFL record in doing so, and that furthered to hinder the team as far as salary cap goes.

And I don't blame him one bit for doing so. I would have done the same thing too. Dude bet on himself big time and it paid off huge and now dude has generational wealth for his family.

The time you are talking about with him is after all the drama happened in Washington. He has played it PERFECTLY for himself to build this generational wealth and I applaud him for that.
He's in the HoF for player contracts that's for sure...sounds like the Falcons are going to cut him though before he is due a 10 million $ bonus

We're hoping Allen does the same, but I just don't see that happening.
For the handful of truly elite QBs like Allen, they perform up to the contract. It's kinda crazy, but Mahomes performance has somehow exceeded his compensation. That doesn't mean the roster doesn't change after you pay an elite QB, but it's not the worst "problem" to have.

Secondly, nobody will ever do what Tom Brady did. On average*, he left about 25% of real money on the table for the team. Let's assume the benchmark value now is $60M per year (Prescott). Even ignoring escalating deal values, Josh Allen would have to take below $48M per year in his next extension to replicate what Brady did for the Patriots. I'd like to see a guy (esp. an unproven QB like Purdy) leave some money on the table for roster building, but it's incredibly rare in the NFL. I just don't see anyone leaving $10M+ per year on the table.

It probably didn't hurt that he was married to someone who made more money than he did, but I bet part of the reason Brady always left money on the table was for his team to be as competitive as possible because he hated losing so much.

Gisele was the highest paid model in the world for a time allegedly before she and Tom got married.

I'm sure purbeast0 was pleased with the result today.
YOU F-ING KNOW IT!

Honestly though after the first half of the first quarter I thought we had no shot.

And then we did and kept kicking ourselves in the nuts with turnovers.

And then there were the terrible PI calls against us.

And then we were always still in it and kept grinding and they pulled it off.

JD is the truth. His 4th and 11 run at the end of the 3rd quarter was unreal. Then his scramble on the final drive on 1st to get another first down was unreal. His dime to Terry and then to Zachius. He is the real deal.

We also got lucky AF on the final TD play because the right tackle could have easily been called for a false start and I even said that when the play started, and I was shocked they did not call that.

But the bad plays kind of evened out I guess. And we got the drop by the Eagles on that final 3rd down they had where it would have resulted in a 1st down.

The crying from Eagles fans on Twitter is the best part though. Crying about Hurts being out and we beat a backup. Crying about the dude getting ejected for BS penalties. The crying about other injuries.

Well too bad - WE injured your players because we played tough physical ball. WE also had 5 turnovers and scored 36 on the "best defense in the NFL" that was letting 17 points a game. The Eagles scored 33 points, won the turnover battle by +4, and STILL lost. And Hurts has nothing to do with the Eagles defense letting 36 points being scored on them.

Happiest I've been for a Commanders win ever. Thanks for the assist

-signed Lions fan

As an aside I might have seen the dumbest NFL graphic ever during the Lions game: "The Lions, Vikings, and Packers are 4-4 vs each other". Can you believe it? Every game had one winner and one loser! What are the chances?!

Freezing rain and snow in Green Bay today. That should finish off anyone who isn’t already injured.

Caught the highlights of the commanders game and that was just fucking fun. Amazing last drive. The manage to watch some of the cowboys game and was really rooting for Baker's team and that last play it totally looked like it was Tampa's to get on the last drive, Baker crazy escapes, throws a really wacky little pass, guy makes a move and that has the ball wrestled away from him. Another crazy end. Just the wrong team won.

I'm happy the Cowboys won because now the Commanders get in with any loss from the Bucs or Falcons.

And if they win one of their last 2 they are in regardless.

So their path is looking very doable at this point. I think I heard they are 94% to make the playoffs after winning yesterday, and were 84% prior to the game.

I only watched the last 2 minutes of SNF, and I sure got my money's worth.

Vita Vea dropped back into coverage, then swooped in on the TE and made a bonkers open field tackle. Bear in mind Vea weighs at least 350 pounds, and Cris Collinsworth opined he normally doesn't understand why DTs would ever play coverage.
Then the final play made you wonder WTF just happened until you saw the replay a couple times.

Insane ending.

Yeah the fourth quarter was the best. I watched some of the beginning of SNF then put on the Dune Prophecy finale. Then I got back to the game and it was early in the fourth. The whole thing was fun to watch but those last two minutes were the best.

Good night America, how are you?
Don’t you know me, I’m your native son.
I’m the team they call the Saints of New Orleans
And I’ll be gone under a hundred yards when the game is done.

Squealers keeping todays first game interesting!

Regardless of what happens today in Pittsburgh tough to pick against KC unless they lose Mahomes to injury.

Edit: So much for that.... KC up 19.

that was a real stinker of a game, no pass completed over 6 yards until the final drive of the game for the Bears

I won't bet against Mahomes, but KC's 15-1 record is misleading. In the AFC, the Bills have been just as good all season. But obviously it'll be hard for anyone to go into Arrowhead and beat the champs.

The Lions have arguably been the best team all season, but their defense is very injured. If they make the Super Bowl, I don't know how healthy they'll be.

ATOT's preseason pick to hoist the trophy, the 49ers have already crashed out of the playoffs. On the cusp of the playoffs, here are the betting odds for the top 5 teams:

Chiefs +375
Lions +400
Bills +550
Eagles +600
Ravens +700

It's gotten a little closer after the Christmas games, but the MVP is still Josh Allen's to lose:
Allen -250
Jackson +160

Jackson has a 39/4 TD-INT ratio and likely finishes 2nd in the voting LOL.
