Just got it for PS2 for $15.99 from target B&M. The price tag label said that it would be that price until this coming Saturday. The price was also that cheap for the Xbox version but those were sold out.

I should mention that this is definately true in the Target in Gainesville. I have no clue if this is going on elsewhere but my guess is that it should be.

It is going on elsewhere. It was in our sundays target add, so I belive this is at all targets, there were also some other games, but I don't remember the titles.

I think it's going to be applied to all Sega sports games for now, and might even be applied to all sports games in general. But I don't think it'll spread to other genres because sports is kind of a special case since every sports game developer releases a new sports game every year (so that's like 3-4 major sports game PER major sport PER year) so it must be tough to sell. That plus I have a theory that development for sports games has kind of hit a ceiling. I mean, there's not much to improve from year to year when you're building the same game on the same platform EVERY year.

Prices will never drop to $20.

Your theory sounds reasonable, and yet every year they've kept doing new things. Some good, some uncessary, but each year, there's always something new. And that something new is more than enough to add enough to the total package to get people to buy millions of copies each year.

I think this is just to combat maddans dominance. although if this game is anything like 2k4 its far better than maddan anyway

Gamespot is pricing all the *k5's at $20 already.

I hated 2K4 on Live it sucked.... Everybody playing Miami, run Ricky left run Ricky right.... Maybe with Ricky's announcement they will delete him from the online roster. Now that would level the playing field.

yeah I hated that too till I got to the point when I could stop the non stop ricky cheese. (3 -4 defence in a zone works quite well. and you play the side you think thier going. he usually gets a 3-5 yards but rarely breaks one. most players get frustrated not being able to break one lose a move to something of a less chessy game style by the second quarter.

This is a nifty game. I hadn't used my XBOX in months prior to being showed this game by a friend. I've played it a few times now after having purchased it just to try and support the "reasonably priced games" trend. I figure maybe if the games come down to $30 or less, they'll make a greater profit because more people will be willing to actually purchase them as opposed to DLing them to their hard drives.

Someone elaborate on the Miami/Ricky exploit here. I'd like to know exactly how that sort of thing works so that I can be wary of it in my own games. It seems somewhat to easy to run the ball in this title. However, that may be because my opponent knows next to nothing about football play selection.

they just made ricky way to good in last years game. but not sure if its the same in this years version. and yes its easy to run if the other team doesn't know how to stop you. if they do forget about only running.

Target usually prints up their ads way in advance. The original ship date for NFL2K5 was this week, but Sega moved it up when they finished the game a bit early.

Best thing is take the ad to CC or BB and pricematch. That will get you another 10% off.

The only way to influence a shift to $20 for sports games is to avoid Madden this year. I love Madden but refuse to buy it this year because there's no way it is 2.5x better than ESPN. Hopefully others will do the same.

Agree. Pricematch at CC, no problem. Pricematch at BB, if the manager/employee wants to give it to you. I know where i'll be going....
