Your ATOT home for all things football until real games start in September.

Browns all of a sudden looking good. Trade draft pick 123 for Jarvis Landry, pick 65 for Tyrod Taylor, and get quality cost controlled CB Denaryius Randall from the Pack in exchange for DeKizer. All of a sudden the Browns no longer seem incompetent. If you’re a Steelers fan this isn’t good news as the Browns winning a game out of their series or a division rival could hugely impact PIT playoff seeding.

i'm not going to miss kizer, just about anyone would be better. kid had a good heart but man, watching 50+ missed passes to wide-open targets throughout the season really realllllly wore me down. maybe GB can teach him something and he'll have a shot at a career.

since saquon barkley's combine numbers were amazing and there are 3 or 4 decent choices for QB, i'm thinking the browns take barkley #1 and a QB at #4.

Kizer would underthrow a dozen passes by 5-10 yards then once or twice a game drop a perfect 40 yard pass on a dime. I don’t think he’s going to be an elite starter but could definitely be a solid backup with potential starter opportunities if he continues to improve. It’s sad how the Browns and Hue Jackson just hung him out to dry last year with few weapons and not tailoring the game plan to his strengths. Instead trying to force full field reads and long pass scheme that would be impossible for any rookie to grasp.

As a Packers fan, I'm not quite sure how to feel about the Damarious Randall for DeShone Kizer trade. Randall showed some promise as a rookie, but between injuries and being a knucklehead has been average to below average since. He has still shown a few flashes and certainly seems to have talent. Hundley clearly wasn't good enough as a backup QB, but I'm not sure Kizer is really all that much better. Ultimately, they are trading Randall, a player who could put it together and be a decent player at a position of weakness, for a player you hope never sees the field. It just feels like a weird trade to me. Either way letting Casey Hayward walk looks really stupid now. I understand why they did, but he didn't exactly score a mega contract on the way out. He certainly wouldn't have been all that hard to keep, and the Packers suck at corner.

Not sure what our remedial inbred sisters to the East were thinking trading Randall for Kizer, nonetheless, Viking nation thanks you.

Sherman do the 9ers hurt a little. Being a ‘hawks fan watching my team disappear is painful...

That's impressive for the Browns, as Taylor is actually a good QB. Not top tier, sure, but certainly better than anything they've had in decades.

well we had RG3 a few years ago

but if you stared at his knee it would explode

I included RG3 in my assessment. I'm a Redskins fan, you see.

It's not all about skill or raw talent when I say "a good NFL QB." It's about actual ability to play.

Otherwise, Sam Bradford would be like, #2 or 3 QB of all time...but he's complete and utter shit...because he can't fucking play. All the talent and brains and touch in the world doesn't mean shit when you aren't on the field to show it. Sucks for him, because he deserves better, probably.

RG3: a bit of that same thing, but added drama with RG2, who is part of any package deal with that waste of salary cap.

Collin Kaperinink is better than both of those, but he's an idiot on the field. Sure, I think he still deserves a starting spot because he is a healthy dude, but he's still a bit of a brainless dunderhead...which at least makes him better than 15% of starting NFL QBs.

100% agree, I've always said this about Bradford. His mind and body are aesthetically perfect for being an NFL QB, A+ mechanics, etc. But one ACL tear just started an injury downward spiral that seemingly has no end.

Once Kaep learns to read defenses he’ll have a job; the kneeling is just a sideshow. Guys like him or T-Rich who lack the ability to see what’s in front of their face are unfortunately common in the NFL and talent can’t typically overcome that deficiency.

Will be a very sad day for Saints fan if Brees ends up leaving the team. I've been harping that Brees is not going to take some sort of discount for the team if, if they don't give him a fair deal he is going to go elsewhere and I don't blame him.

Holy carp I can only imagine the video game numbers Brees would put up in Minny. You’d have to think the Vikes would be prohibitive SB favorites with him under center.

Vikings reach out to Drew Brees

Brees' situation is becoming more fluid. There's been almost zero belief he could actually leave New Orleans, but we are less than 48 hours from the start of free agency and there's seemingly been zero movement in talks. It makes all the sense in the world for Brees to at least feign interest in other teams as he negotiates with the Saints. It also makes sense for the Vikings, who could be trying to leverage Kirk Cousins.

He signed a 2 year deal with us, happy to see him return. He means so much to this franchise

The Chicago Bears are getting ready to give big money to a WR coming off of ACL surgery.

To add to their stable of broken toys, I guess.

Wonder what the Jets are going to do now. They have too much cap space to sit back idle and fans (all 4 of them) aren't going to be satisfied with some retread like Teddy Bridgewater. Browns taking Tyrod is looking like pure genius now and I wouldn't be surprised in the least if the Jets give them a boatload of picks to move up to the 1st overall. Bills are almost certainly going to be willing to move their current 1.12 and 1.22 picks plus more to get a franchise QB now that they've traded away Tyrod and you know damn well the 'Fins might be moving up also. So unless the G-Men pass on Rosen or one of the other big 3 QBs then the Jets might be stuck taking someone like Lamar Jackson at the 1.6 which represent poor value (although I think he'll do awesome in the league).

Sounds like Brees is staying with the Saints for a 2 year deal and turned down a 3 year fully guaranteed contract.
