This is where all teams can gain hope for the future. I personally think the Raiders should get Calvin Johnson with the #1 pick and then get a QB in the 2nd round. Russel is not quite NFL ready (especially with that Raiders Offense) and I just don't think they'll take Quinn (it's an image thing). Johnson is a great guy on and off the field and is a true can't miss prospect. There will be very good QB's left in the 2nd as well.

When you have as many holes as the Raiders the smart move is to trade down for multiple 1st and 2nd round picks. Neither Russel nor Johnson are going to turn that franchise around by themself. If they are going to keep the pick they need to take Russel. They've already proven that having good receivers with a crappy QB is a recipe for failure.

Im very eager to see who Baltimore drafts.

We need either an OL, a CB, or a QB.

We really don't have to worry about filling Adalius Thomas's spot since the Ravens have a history of breeding good linebackers.

That is true. Not too mention the money it takes to sign a Top 5 pick anyway. However from what I'm reading and hearing, nobody really wants to give up multiple picks to move up.

For the Browns, its bigger than the Super Bowl. Seriously, we get really excited every year about it. New talk is the Browns offered Braylon and a 3rd round pick to the Vikings for their 7th pick in the draft.

I cant believe that people get so hyped about draft day. Any new meat is going to take a couple years to age properly... and if you watch the draft, you're wasting your time.

yes, it seems there are lots of teams that want to trade down, and very few who want to trade up. Biggest problem is probably the salary scale. Still, I could see someone trading up for C Johnson or maybe one of the QBs.

Watching the draft is a complete waste of time, but I watch almost all of it.

The Patriots picked up the recieving in the offseason. We picked up a great linebacker, now we just need to draft a CB or two, Reggie Nelson for safety, because Radoney Harrison gets hurt every season, no matter what, and not much else. If the Pats take care of defense in the draft AND those defensive draft picks do decent (mainly Nelson), I can say we have a great shot at a fourth superbowl!

Amen, I need some reasons to use the half season of tickets I have.

I think from reading the Buffalo News that the prospects the Bills have picked out would be good additions, as long as Denver doesn't spoil them.

All the national sports analysts think that dropping McGahee was the worst move possible. Personally I think that overrated tool had to go.

I've seen them play the last time they were here. Though I typically get incredibly drunk pregaming in the parking lot, so I don't remember the bills losing.

The best Bills v. Patriots game was the first year Bledsoe came to the bills, and the bills romped em 31-0 on opening day. That was fun.

I agree, Spikes wanted out, Fletcher-Baker- add-a-name was washed up and Nate hit the lottery they all had to go, but that leaves a lot of holes

Exactly. Many/most 1st rounders end up playing their 1st year (many 2nd rounders too) and end up being contributing members to their team very quickly.

I'm guessing you don't follow the NFL much. Vince Young, Ben Roethlisberger, to name a few. They all have had success within a year of being starters. Vince Young took a few months like someone already mentioned. More and more these days, the rookies are coming in prepared to start with the skillset and the mature attitude needed to play in the NFL.

EDIT: Joseph Addai of the 2006 Super Bowl champs, Indy Colts - Rookie, first year, eventually joined starting lineup towards the end of the season and made a significant impact on the way the team played. He will be the sole starting RB this coming season since what is his name has gone and left the team.

Definitely. All of the players let go were going out the door at the right time.
The team is in rebuilding mode and will be for a few seasons. Who knows what some of these young guys can do though. I think these guys will produce another winning season. Not sure if playoffs are in their future for another year or three, but you never know.

The blackouts in the second half of the season really pissed me off last year. I only attended two of thoes games and thought they were definitely TV worthy. The blackout rule is a counterproductive catch-22 for a small market team like the bills. Good thing the collective barganing agreement went through.

With the Sabres having a franchise season, I don't think the Bills are going to get much attention.

Ya, the obvious exception from this is the QB spot. Rookie QBs tyically don't start or don't do well right away, but that's understandable. Most rookies in the top of the draft at other positions can come right in and be very good. Reggie Bush, Merriman, Demarcus Ware just to name a few. You can always end up with a Ryan Leaf or Akili Smith though too.
