Edit: Well now I have to hate him. Sigh.

Good deal for the Browns. They get a QB for the future without the top of the draft dollars.

Even though Quinn went 22nd... he's going to get top 15 money, maybe top 10. Condon is a master at getting good contracts.

So Dallas get's Cleveland's 2nd round pick and Cleveland's 2008 first round pick. Not a bad deal.

Yep.. if CLE finishes at the bottom again, DAL can get a good player in 08 or trade the pick. I don't know if Quinn and Thomas can make an impact teh first year.

The Browns dont' have a RB i think (Droughns) left and they also have 2 decent QBs - Fyre and Anderson.

People who watched Revis a lot know how good he is... Pitt D got little to no pass rush and yet Revis stuck like glue to whomever he covered.

Leon Hall got torched by Ginn and Jarrett, which speaks to Ginn's speed and Jarrett's ability to run and sell routes. Hall also got torched by lesser WR's on occassion. Most of Leon Hall's highlight plays came as result of great pressure by the D-line and the overage scheme allowing him to sit in a zone and watch the QB's eyes.

someone i miami is gonna get fired

i think the browns made a decent trade... not great, but he woulda been gone, and i think at 22 quinn's a steal... but for 2008 first round.... i dunno... the chiefs would have taken quinn if the browns didn't move up...

GB picked smart at 16... Harrell is a beast. He is extremely strong and quick... I think of Byrant Young when I look at him, except a little bigger.

Quinn is now the value of the draft.... great job by Clev.

One thought I have is that a lot of scouts don't know how to evaluate CB's and WR's... fortunately the Jets knew what they were doing, Revis is much better than Leon Hall.

Good stuff. I heard some coaches also compare Willis to an Al Wilson. He was a beast on a terrible team.

Ginn I don't get. His upside is a KR but there are several WR out there better.

Cleveland got what they wanted for less money

Glad you can see the value in Harrell.

I don't know about 2nd largest day... but it's definitely the longest...

6 hours to do the first round. Gonna be around 12 hours to finish the first three.

What? Who did Williams get traded to?

Edit: WTF!?!?! The Raiders?! Damn, I'm glad for him and the Raiders.

I think Williams may yet turn out to be a fantastic pro...although I'm not sure going to the Raiders will be that great for development. But any kind of a fresh start will be way better for him than sticking with the Lions.

2nd: stupid ESPN article said Williams battled 'weight problems'... no, he battled the 'I can't lose muscle without starving myself' problem that the Lions coaches imposed on him.

LOL...you aren't kidding. I am getting pretty irritated listening to Keyshawn talking about how to "Cash In" to get "My Money".

Draft winners on the first day: 49ers, Bills, Browns, Colts, Vikings, Panthers... not necessarily in that order. All these teams got good or great value in 'need' areas.

No huge losers on the first day but the bottom rung: Skins, Seahawks mainly... because they had so few picks.

I'd add the Jets to the list of winners and remove the Browns.

I'd add the Dolphins and especially the Eagles to the list of losers.

WTF Eagles?! Why not get Chris Houston at that pick?! Reid is trying to say we don't have any holes and could justify taking the best player left on HIS list, my ass!

At least they got Tony Hunt in the 3rd, I thought that was a steal.

The Jets? Questionable..

I think Dallas had a great day, maybe not so evident this year but will pay off huge dividends in 2008... Cleveland will almost definitely get a top 10 pick next year...

The Jets moved up from a series of late round picks to snag two starters....including my #1 CB this year.

And, yeah, I think the Browns got the worst of that trade which is why I'd drop them to a mediocre draft. Anybody can mortgage their future for a pick, but if you do it well, like the Niners, you get a pick back. Quinn may have been there in round 2 for all we know.

I am jaded since I am a Cowboys fan but I think we did pretty good. Even though we essentially took another linebacker to compete opposite Ware it really killed our D last year when Ellis went down so to have Carpenter and Spencer (Our new guy) there in case anything happens is nice. We also got an OT in the 3rd to shore up the O line.

A big plus is we still have the 4th pick in the 4th, another 4th, 2 6th rounds, and 3 7th rounds. This gives us a lot of picks to take chances on some guys that might bust but could have a big up side.

Also, I don't envision the Browns suddenly going 8-8 so their pick next year should be top15. So with that trade we picked up a 2nd round this year and a top15 next year for the 22 this year. I think that's a great trade.

Only stipulation is we need to get some receivers tomorrow to try and get some good young talent at WR.

I like what the Jets did with their picks... Revis and Harris are day one starters on D. Revis has Pro Bowl potential. But the jets coughed up a lot to move up for Revis... they don't pick again until the 6th round.

Dallas trading out to Clev. will pay off big next year. And they still got an edge rusher in the 1st round at the cost of their 2nd round picks...so yeah, they did well.

The 49er's were smart.

They got their LB (Willis will be a pro bowler within 3 years) at #11 and then saw Staley and had to bite.

Staley is every bit as freaky a talent as Joe Thomas...just less proven/polished against top college competition. Staley didn't give up a single sack all season last year and was pretty fantastic in the senior bowl.

Hill at WR was a steal in the 3rd round... there is not really much of anything separating Hill and Craig Davis (for instance, who went to SD at #30) in terms of talent and demonstrated 'on the field' capability, IMO. If anything, Hill is faster and might be better after the catch.

Ray McDonald at DL could be a huge steal...he was one healthy knee away from the 1st round. The longer Mcdonald's knee stays healthy the stronger it will get and the more he'll be able to life legs hard and improve his lower body strength (one additional knock against him). But even with the past knee problem he was quite dominant inside... in fact, Jarvis Moss owes him a dinner for helping Moss look so good all season.

I think the Browns gave up way too much to get Quinn. Their first next year is not likely top 15, it is more likely top 5 or at worst top 10. They could have probably drafted a good QB in the second round or picked another need position then and grabbed a QB next year.

I like how everyone at ESPN kept talking about how Boomer Esiason fell, Dan Marino fell, and others but yet they never brought up the guy that I think Quinn is the most comparable to - Aaron Rodgers. He was supposed to compete for the top pick in the draft with Alex Smith. At least the Packers didn't have to trade up to get Rodgers
