I bet that every time Brady Quinn sees Joe Thomas during practice, he's gonna think...."So how much more money is he making than me??"

Haha.

I like how everyone at ESPN kept talking about how Boomer Esiason fell, Dan Marino fell, and others but yet they never brought up the guy that I think Quinn is the most comparable to - Aaron Rodgers. He was supposed to compete for the top pick in the draft with Alex Smith. At least the Packers didn't have to trade up to get Rodgers

I tend to agree with you about their pick being top5 or top10 but just to be completely safe it's going to be at the worst top15 and that still makes it a great deal for the cowboys. The essentially got exactly what they wanted on day 1 with the exception of having to move from late 2 to early 3. On top of that they have tons of picks tomorrow and just for some extra gravy a top15 next year. With those picks, our defense hopefully shored up with Ellis back, some good O-line play and Romo growing a little more we should be looking good the next few years if not this season.

Burn in HELL Ted Thompson...alll this blabber about the packers in the thick of things to get Randy Moss was a bunch of B.S. Jerk store makes but load of trades to get more 6 and 7th round picks...which will amount to nothing. I would have liked to see him even drop a 3rd rounder to the Raiders to get Moss...
Too Bad Brett F.'s last year is going to be in vain

Damn Patriots are primed now more than ever for a run at the championship...Tom Brady = MVP 5,000 yards & 40 Td's

I'm kind of pissed that the Packers didn't get him, seeing how low the price was.

My sentiments exactly...TT sounded like a total jackass on ESPN when they interviewed him after they asked him about Randy Moss...basically denying the question totally...

Especially when they are drafting receivers anyways. Why not trade one of those picks and get somebody who is proven?

You're telling me (<- cowboys fan). We need a another good receiver and have 2 fourth round picks, a 6th, and 3 7th round picks. We could have given them a 4th and a 7th easy. Although I am not really sure Randy Moss and TO could be on the same field. That's a lot of ego. Still, Moss, TO, Glenn as your starting 3? Damn.

Moss would only renegotiate his contract with a superbowl contender and the only superbowl contender in negotiations was with the patriots. The packers never had a chance even if they offered a 1st round pick.

What the hell are the Eagles doing? They're taking a bunch of no-names when much better talent is still available.. even at the same positions they're drafting! About the only pick I like is Tony Hunt.

Also, it's pretty sad that the Heisman winner wasn't taken until the last pick of the 5th.

After I thought about it, that is what I thought too...after I heard he was going to renegotiate his contact it sort of made sense that they got him...

Still pissed thought

Also have to consider that Moss is basically a malcontent at this point in his career. Only an organization like the Patriots with established veterans and coaching staff could take on a character problem like Moss.

The Cowboys took University of Washington QB Isaiah Stanback but he is going to play WR and return punts/kicks (a la Randle El and others). Analysis I heard says he is very athletic and could be a 1 or 2 after a year of WR training. He did play WR as a freshmen so he knows the position somewhat.

WTF was that? The Dolphins essentially used their 2nd or 3rd round pick in the 1st round. On top of being drafted WAY ahead of expectations he's a KR specialist with a (still) bad ankle and very questionable skills at WR. If Ginn isn't the next Devon Hester this will be one of the biggest 1st round draft blunders in the history of the NFL.

The Dolphins had better hope Brady Quinn is a bust.

I heard today that Ginn is still walking around in a boot. The Dolphins soooo should have traded down.

I'm guessing you don't follow the NFL much. Vince Young, Ben Roethlisberger, to name a few. They all have had success within a year of being starters. Vince Young took a few months like someone already mentioned. More and more these days, the rookies are coming in prepared to start with the skillset and the mature attitude needed to play in the NFL.

Bolded for emphasis...you don't need a mature attitude to play professional sports these days...just talent. Catch, pass, throw or shoot is all you need. Be as much of an a$$hole as you want to be...there is basically no repurcussions. If the past is any indicator, many of the young men drafted high in the opening round have had anything and everything simply given to them as they have been passed through the educational system so they could play ball and "succeed". Please don't try to say the guys playing professional sports are mature in any sense of the word...hence the multiple suspensions this off-season by the NFL cracking down on the player base and the NBA with basically pushing, shoving and taunting on every play. I do watch sports but find it harder and harder to watch it with my kids due to the vulgarity you hear the players spouting, the taunting and general unsportsmalike conduct portrayed on almost every play. Makes it a little difficult to explain to your kid to be mature and play like a man when the so-called "professionals" cannot even do so.

Yep, they said that on the radio here (Tampa) too. Even if he was healthy he wasn't worth a top 10 pick in the 1st round. I know they lost Wes Welker but did they really need a KR/PR that badly? I wish I could tune in a station from Miami. I'm sure the phone lines are blowing up there.

I disagree. If Goodell's examples are followed (and they damn well should be) other pro sports leagues will begin to fall in line. I am so happy that he is finally putting his foot down on some of these idiot athletes who feel like they can get away with anything. Now if only we could have someone do this with celbreties...

Oh, and as a Pats fan, I am really stoked about the draft this year. With the exception of Merriweather, our other picks will have a hard time making the team anyway, so why not trade our 3rd and 4th round picks for future picks (love the 49ers 2008 first round pick)? My only concern is going to be the huge cloud of "special smoke" over our sidelines with both Moss and Stallworth!

I'm really glad the Steelers did nothing to bolster themselves and will be even worse this year than last year.

AT least I think they got a good guard from Rutgers by the name of Stephensen (5th rd). Rutgers had only 8 sacks last year and number 2 rusher in nation.
