Pretty sure the refs aren't assigned based on a team's record. Hochuli made the terrible call this week.

I won't really say much on the personal foul call, although I don't agree with it, because in the speed of the game it could look like a non football tackle. Having said that, there is absolutely no reason for the NFL to fine him after looking at that play. It looks like he was going for the push and was slightly off balance, while Cutler was falling to the ground.

The NFL has turned into a comedy show as of late. Very disappointed.

ha, I didn't watch the replay at the end of the video at first. looks much tamer form that vantage point.

but the live shot, I would probably call that a foul 100% of the time were I a ref on the field.

However, having the luxury to watch reply and dole out fines after the fact, no way in hell they should have fined him for that once they saw the action up close.

It looks really, really bad live, though. heh.

Exactly Saratoga... The call on the field, sh*t happens. The game is so fast, referees make mistakes, it's part of life.

But there is no excuse for fining him. None.

The thing is the reason Cutler is going to the ground is because Suh pushed him. Essentially the NFL is saying he pushed him too hard.

You can see the open palm better after Cutler goes down. He'd have to be pretty stupid to go in with a closed fist because he'd likely be punching a helmet.

You don't make a call unless you are positive you saw a penalty occur. I don't see how anyone could be positive they saw a penalty occur when it never occurred. It's not acceptable.

The fine is on a whole new level of stupidity though, for sure.

Pretty sure NFL refs don't make hundreds of thousands of dollars. They make something in the neighborhood of $50,000 to $70,000.

That's bullshit. The game is fast and the whole reason why they have video replay is so the refs can call it like they see it and have the video to fall back on in many cases.

In this case it did look like a punch to the back of the head to me on the first look. I probably would have called unnecessary roughness. I would have been wrong, but that's an easy mistake to make.

The fine is BS.
