OMG Harbaugh with the balls call for the win instead of the tie. ...and it was a good call. Just not so great on the toss, ffs.

T.J Watt got the mojo of his big brother.

Baltimore loses on a two point try.

"Gutsy call" my a$$ .... Baltimore's D was gassed but you still call yourself lucky and take it to OT there. Whatever... that was a great game.

WFT was 2-6 coming out of a bye and completely out of it, facing the defending SB champs, the Bucs, also coming out of a bye after a loss.

Since then, they have defeated Tom Brady, Cam Newton, Russel Wilson, and Derrick Carr.

They are now 6-6 and in the 6th wild card spot, also controlling their own destiny with a shot to actually win the division.

WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON?????

Somewhere along the line, Scott Turner has adjusted his play calling to incorporate a lot more runs. This might be due to the rather heavily injured state of the Oline and TE position, and run blocking is generally what Olinemen prefers. It's probably also changed given the state of the D, which is still very shaky but when the opponent only has 20 minutes of TOP, the D's job becomes...manageable.

Switching Landon Collins to a hybrid linebacker role also helped, as players who can actually process the safety position man that spot while Landon Collins plays more close to his instincts style.

Rivera has some tactical issues, but he does very well in making the players give effort and not quit, while Jay Gruden's team tend to lay down if things went wrong.

Heinicke is also doing a lot, and the others players believe in him, so they don't quit.

That one play on 3rd and 15 by Heinicke to get free from that sack was incredible. Sucks that Thomas dropped that pass. It was high but very catchable and he should have caught it based on his ability.

And the way he bounces back after mistakes is not something I'm used to as a WFT fan. Like he threw that pick which lead to the Raiders marching down the field to take the lead, then drives right back down to take the lead. And he's done that multiple times this year. He has ice in his veins.

The WFT D has also REALLY stepped up their run defense. They seem to be stuffing a lot more runs than before. They also aren't giving up the 2-3 huge plays per game they were early on in the season.

This whole team just has a grit to them we haven't seen before. And I love watching the Rivera locker room speeches after the games. He gets fired up and I love that. Haven't seen that in a WFT coach in as long as I can remember.

Just watched the highlights of the Vikes-Lions games. LOL, if Mike ZImmer wasn't hyper aggressive, the Vikings probably win. Three failed 2 point tries and choosing to go for it instead of punting near the end of the first half. Going for it led to three Detroit points. The three failed 2 point tries were another 3 points lost.

Remember the Wildcat formation that was going to "revolutionize" the NFL? Took about half a season for league defense to figure it out and it went mostly away.

I expect the foolish trends of going on 4th down all the time and frequently going for 2 when not forced to do so will end up in the same place.

Well, it never did die. Just couldn't operate as a main offense. But it can still produce TDs even with limited use.

Point was that we've been playing pro football for quite awhile now and they're not re-inventing the wheel with this crap.... "Wildcat" was just another formation and wasn't anything special at all long-term.

Going for it on 4th down every time will quickly result in opponents modifying their special-teams defense and a lot of turnovers on downs while frequent 2-point conversion attempts will ultimately mean far more failures to convert and not much else.

Given the cutthroat nature of the competition behind the sport, innovation and acceptance of new concepts is often slow and met with some suspicion. The Wildcat did not make it mainstream long-term but it not being totally rejected after it was figured out was still a change to the game.
