And thus ends the "Finger Bowl" with Stafford on top and Russ out(unless he's crazy stupid macho and trots out there next week).

Looks like Wilson will be out 4-8 weeks with a ruptured ligament in his finger that required surgery to repair.

GL to the Seahawks making the playoffs in that division (or ANY NFL division) with Geno Smith @ the helm!

Seahawks were living off the reputation of a memory for years(Legion of Boom is the equivalent of a dodo). Ah yes, Russ's goose is cooked. I doubt that's the type of cooking he wanted though.

Saquon carted off.

Dallas driving on Big Blue but two turnovers have allowed the Giants to stay in it.

70% of the Giants offense is hurt

Plus the starting LT.

Hoping for a good draft pick next year.

Jon Gruden to Urban Meyer: "Hold my beer."
Urban Meyer got me today. Ryan Tannehill had a forward pass as he was being sacked that was ruled incomplete. He threw a challenge flag against the ruling to see if they would declare it a fumble. It wasn't close...what was worse was the delay. I was going to explain it on here and bash him, but didn't...until I saw this post with the video.

I didn't wish bad things on him from the bad PR he got. I didn't wish bad things on him after he got caught feeling up some chick in a bar. Frivolous challenge flags just make him look like a chump....

because the browns will blow a shootout %95 of the time

the defense is never up to the challenge
I know what you're saying.

In this shootout, the Chargers were down a point and knocking on the door, but didn't want to score because it would leave too much time on the clock. It appeared that the Browns defense dragged the halfback from LA into the end zone for the touchdown on purpose just so they would give Baker some time to work...around a minute and a half.

Man, I know I'm biased, but the refs have been beyond garbage tonight trying to help out the Chiefs.

Josh Allen is a bad man.

Back in the "olden days" a young guy with that size and speed (but limited accuracy) would have been forced to abandon the QB spot and been shoehorned into being either a TE/OL combo or a pass rushing DE from HS on, with no shot at QB. You know - to help the team win.

I actually knew a similar guy in college. 6' 5", unbelievable arm, could throw the ball 80 yards but was buried on the QB depth cart on his HS team. His coach convinced him he was needed on the D line and he ended up playing DE from HS through JC and having a good career (all conference both seasons) but didn't get recruited to play 4 year ball. We did win two intramural championships thanks to him, one in football and one in basketball.

Do you think Mahomes knows better than to flap his yap now?

I thought it'd be a bigger deal that Gruden said some pretty nasty things in old emails than Meyer getting a "lap dance" in his own restaurant. But as absurd as Gruden's protestations have been*, I'm wrong. I may have underestimated how much owner Mark Davis loves Gruden, having courted him for years to return to coaching. In some photos, Gruden actually looks like a mini- version of the Raiders owner.

As far as Urban Meyer goes, although he stayed back to "visit his grandchildren," reportedly he didn't even tell his own players he wasn't flying back with them. Rumors have it that his own players respect him as much as casual fans do, and as they careen towards a 2 win season, it seems highly unlikely he can survive past 17 games. As far as the challenge goes, that's kinda standard. The call comes from the team's video guys in the booth and he's dependent on them to decide. Personnel on the field will not have the best info available compared to replay evidence. But otherwise I agree he's not long for the NFL, and quite frankly it was expected IMHO.

* The "rubber lips" and "no racist bone in my body" statements are frankly absurd. But his locker room is backing him, and that's all that matters.

I hadn't seen/heard about Gruden when I replied to this. I only saw all that later last night.

Meyer just doesn't appear to have it together. If you see the link I sent and the twitter video of him trying to decide what to do, it makes him look like a boob. I wouldn't have challenged that simply because it wasn't a play they are going to overturn... Sure....challenge ruling of catches and players getting 2 feet down. Challenge the spot of the ball on a 3rd down or 4th down when it's clear the ball isn't placed appropriately.

One of my favorite statistics to view is the challenges won/lost for all of the head coaches. The sample sizes are always pretty low, but you see some coaches really have a keen group watching the game. Ignore Nagy and Reid on this list...look at coaches like Pete Carroll. 80% reversal on 5 challenges is pretty good while chewing (chomping) gum!

Seems like Meyer is more like ol' ball coach Spurrier than Chip Kelly. Kelly at least tried to win, and did cause some trouble until he was figured out. Meyer's a casual, and casual doesn't win in the NFL. Gotta be somewhat obsessive about the job or else the stress will kill you.

Meyer looks like a boob because he's waiting for his video guys in the booth to tell him what to do. He doesn't independently know from the field, despite the personnel in his proximity imploring him otherwise. IIRC the success rate of challenges is relatively low, so I don't fault him for looking like a boob this time. Although they were down by 2TD, it was still early after halftime so it needs to be a slam dunk to use a challenge.

Honestly I don't know much about Meyer, but outside of Jimmy Johnson and Jim Harbaugh, successful college coaches often flame out quickly in the NFL. You could argue much of JJ's success in the 1990s "dynasty" was due to the brilliant Herschel Walker trade haul. So even before the season began, I knew the odds were against Meyer having a successful NFL career. The odds eroded when he hired damaged goods as an assistant coach and then tried to tell everyone 34-year-old Tim Tebow should be an NFL tight end. No wonder he's reportedly already lost the locker room. Once that happens, your fate is sealed.
