He said some really dumb shit in those emails. Read about them today.

Who did he think he was talking to, Donald Trump?

Its hard to believe how stupid people can be.

I got my first email account in like 1996 and I knew from DAY ONE not to write anything in an e-mail that would be regrettable for me if it came to light.

25 fucking years ago.

Bruce Allen, who is as much a piece of shit as Trump is.

I mean they found out about these emails BECAUSE they are investigating WFT and Bruce Allen lol.

My email rules:
1) if its more than 3 sentences, call them
2) if its angry, don't send it.

Also seems a bit much for emails from 10 years ago. I'm ok with him getting fired too but he didn't exactly commit a crime and its not clear that he lost the players. Hard to say... but i don't like seeing people axed for skeletons in the closet from a long time ago cause we all have these skeletons.

I don't worry about anger. Anger is understandable and mostly forgivable. We all get angry at the doorknobs we meet every day.

It's the other stuff.

Usually these sorts of resignations are essentially firings. The owner comes up and asks you to resign or be fired. People generally resign because its better in name than being fired. I assure you Gruden isn't voluntarily leaving his millions of guaranteed money on the table over a few emails from 10 years ago. He had the best current contract as a coach in terms of payment and when he signed it everyone thought it was over the top what the raiders were paying for a guy with such a long coaching layoff. Its a lotta money for him to voluntarily walk away from, particularly when he has no other immediate prospects. Gruden was basically fired and allowed to resign to save face.

Its very hard to send a professional but angry email. Too easy for things to go awry and end up in the HR departments hands. Even more so, often after 24 hours or so you're not even angry anymore.

I am surprised Chucky was axed.

Semantics. He was probably allowed to resign by the owner.

I just assumed if I ever ran for public office, someone would find my ATOT account and it would be over.

10 year old emails sure sounds like a distraction from something bigger in the Washington investigation.
Sounds pretty plausible. Let the media gobble him up for the day and then let the rest of the dirt remain hidden. Gruden still has his millions and the few players he led to the Super Bowl will be left with mixed feelings at worst....

I guess I was wrong (when Gruden still had the support of his locker room), but ultimately right when the full breadth of emails were revealed. Still makes you wonder if the Raiders had not lost to the Bears Sunday, if he'd still be clinging to the job today.

I was too busy watching MLB last night, but Lamar Jackson had an incredible stat line. At least for one week, he proved the naysayers wrong.

....yeah, I hadn't hear of the other emails that came out, last night, before posting that up there^ this morning. In fact, it came on NPR about 20 minutes after I posted that "ridiculous" comment about Gruden's firing, but yeah. Eh, I get it.

Hell, I didn't even know what happened until last night during the game when they mentioned it. I don't really follow the sports news much and now you guys, you resort to talking code in this thread and I never wtf is going on like--whatever with Gruden happens, and the guy up there is like "hold my beer." No link to article. I actually have no idea what is happening anymore, because I just realized that I started depending on this thread to inform me about outside the game news. lol.

whatever.

Hell, I didn't even know Urban Meyer was coaching the jags all this time. You guys keep joking about him, and I have no fricking clue why that is relevant. I have totally tuned out! lol. (but it's not like I would be paying attention to the Jags anyway, right?)

Credit where its due Lamar had a terrific game.

However the Colts D also played like a bunch of Nancy's in the 2ed half. (they were completely gassed)

I was expecting more from Indy this season after the way they finished last year.

Now that the raiders need a coach, I again offer them Jason Garrett

He can ride shotgun in an Ambulette with Jones on a stretcher in back... make it a package deal! (all I would need to see in exchange is a bag of footballs)

Lamar is a deadly weapon who checkmates the opponent mentally. Indy sometimes had a rush where any other QB would have been disturbed or sacked but Lamar's mix of agility and speed allowed him to give the slip big time. The rushers had to keep contain yet try to rush, which is basically no man's land. The D had to either stay in zone or play man.

As a QB, he still has questions but his other talents are compensating for it. His tangibles like accuracy is deathly good.

I was sitting good in fantasy and the dude single handedly handed me the loss.

Here's my take on Jackson now ... IF he survives to fully get his head wrapped around the game and focusing on pass-first WHILE he can still run like the freaking wind he'll be epic.

Based on last night he has improved but the jury is still out IMO... Lamar is physically talented like nobody else in the league (even Mahomes) BUT he has yet to show the judgement to go with it consistently.

Jones is one of the highest rated quarterbacks in the league, while dealing with tons of injuries on the offense. I want him on my team.

We've been through this ... you know that while I respect your opinion (despite frequently giving you a hard time!) I disagree that Jones will ever take the Giants anywhere except home for the holidays.

And as I've also said I would love to be mistaken about Jones/Barkley/Judge/Gettleman et-all but so far EVERY SINGLE TIME I allow myself to feel even SLIGHTLY positive about this version of the NY Giants something like yesterday happens.

That idiot Jones dove head first into a double tackle and got himself brained that's what happened. It was incredibly dumb not brave unless the IL is what you're shooting for.... if so it certainly worked!

Barkley getting hurt itself is tragic BUT wasting that draft pick on Barkley for this joke of a team was borderline criminal it was such a bad football decision. (especially for poor Barkley... what a waste)

We need to clean house IMO except for a few guys on D... should have traded Barkley before the most recent hit to his value too ..... sorry but I for one am tired of losing and until this team gets fundamentally sound on BOTH lines (for starters) the rest is a waste of time.

Jones is practically carrying the team on his own on offense. The best starters on offense have played a combined 17 snaps together this season through 5 games. When Barkley played he looked off the first three games. Toney just blew up, but after missing most of the off-season.

The Jones hate is just not based in fact this season.

It is 100% based on seeing Jones play and not liking a lot of what I see based on 45+ years of watching football. Not sure what you've been looking at that has you so impressed.

If the Giants start to win on a regular basis and Jones plays a significant part get back to me not before ... otherwise its just talk and talk doesn't win football games.

I'll be THRILLED to admit I was mistaken if it happens!

I'm hearing it is. The Gruden leaks are coming out of an investigation into the toxic workplace environment of the Washington Football Team. We never got the results of that investigation. 650K were compiled but only the disparaging Gruden ones were leaked.

There's way more that will come out. I think WFT were being sued for their mistreatment of women at the workplace

I have no reason to follow the Giants, but I believe what you're arguing is that through 5 games, Daniel Jones isn't the problem. Or at least statistically he's played well enough, which I can't dispute. But tons of QBs are putting up quality numbers, so it will take more time to separate the wheat from the chaff.

OTOH Captante likes to refer to the eye test, as he said before week 1 that Aaron Rodgers is an overrated QB. I didn't watch MNF, but Captante also gives Lamar Jackson the faintest of praise after what seemed to be a career-defining game (37-43, 442 YDS, 4 TD).

I have no opinion of Jones but I will say if you find yourself with a top 15 QB in the league (i.e. at least average), you're married to him until he asks for Kirk Cousins money.
