LOL....Brady stinks? He is pretty much a poster boy for QB mechanics (look at his his release point). Yes, overall, Manning is a better QB pound for pound, but being better does not always mean a win.

Where is Brett Favre, Brett Favre!, BRETT FAVRE!?

Madden's All-Decade team would have Brett Favre at all QB spots.

plus i think he would through him in at a few others just for good measure.

<madden> Brett Favre is so good he could beat this team all by himself </madden>

Didn't Young still play in the last decade?

Answered my own question and looked it up.

Aikman did play in 2000 though

Seems like a difficult list to judge. Do players who only came into the league in the last 3-4 years get consideration? What about guys who only played in the first 3-5 years of the decade? Or is it if you were lucky enough to play throughout most of the decade AND you were good, you get in that list?

That said, a few guys that should get some consideration. Nmadi Asomugah ( or whatever). That guy has been lockdown for quite a few years now. Jason Witten has been a great TE, not just receiving but one of the best blockers as well. Brian Westbrook. Clinton Portis. Andre Johnson. Larry Fitzgerald.

His defense and kicker are just as responsible for those Super Bowl wins. It seems that when they were winning Super Bowls, he got all the credit; when they lost to the Giants, Pats fans were tripping over themselves not to find any fault with him. As a Colts fan, it is gratifying seeing people finally realize the truth.

With that said, he deserves to be on the list. I'm not sure who else you could pick, since the only other QBs that leap to mind are Warner (2 SB losses but lots of stats and an amazing career), Roethlisberger (2 SB wins, but is sometimes erratic), Favre (had some bad years this decade and no SB appearances), or McNabb (1 SB loss and many other NFC Championship losses). In the end, I'd pick Manning #1, Brady a distant #2, and then maybe Warner or Big Ben as #3

Kind of like how the only reason that Manning has a ring is because of the defense and running game the year that they won. But you're right Manning has played absolutely stellar in the post season.....

The difference is that I won't deny that Manning had a poor postseason that year and the defense carried them. Manning played fairly well in the Super Bowl though. Remember, this guy calls his own plays so he is more than "just" a QB.

I was just poking fun of the whole "rings" argument with my post. It is a team game, not an individual game. Brady is finding out how hard it is without a good D to back him up, which is what Manning endured many years.

Well it seemed like you were using that logic to rank Brady below Manning....I would personally put Manning above Brady because he does call his own plays though.

No, I don't use rings to rank anyone (or at least use them as the only factor) and always scoff at that whole argument. Manning is an amazing QB and I don't say that just because I live in Indy. The guy is unreal at the line of scrimmage, which is where he does 90% of his magic. He probably only has a few years left and I am afraid most of us take him for granted.

Brian Urlacher? Would he play on this "All Decade" team from a wheel chair or on crutches?

so he gets nixed because hes hurt for 1.5 out of the 8 seasons hes played, and done so very well.

and I agree, John Lynch should be on there, hes a m(*& f*(&%% animal! the good kind.

enjoy watching him while you can. as i packers fan i know what its like watching one of the greats and wondering how many years are left(and then watch them play for a hated rival ) you really got to enjoy the games as records are broken and more accomplishments are made but dreaded the end of every season cause you wonder which one will be the last one.

And honestly, if it were Manning or Brady getting pummelled like a crash test dummy during that last playoff game for Minn, they'd be MAYBE coming out of the coma now. Farve is 10x the player Manning or Brady will ever be.

Antonio Gates? Really? Over Jason Witten?

the numbers are similar in a few categories (yards, receptions), but after his rookie year gates has never had less than 8 touchdown catches in a season and also shares the single-season td catches record for a tight end. witten has never caught 8 in a season. so yes, gates over witten.

Except for the fact that Favre makes a habit out of throwing interceptions at crucial moments in the biggest games of his career.

And Brady has a habit of leaving the big games to his kicker.

Last pass as a Packer, INT.

Last pass as a Jet, INT.

Last pass as a Viking, INT.

also holds the record for most INT's

what does him starting that many games really mean?

lets put aside the fact that, while I dont like him much, hes a good/great QB

starting 200+ games has nothing to do with bieng the best, it simply means that for 200 games you were atleast the what, 32st best QB in the NFL, AKA the worst starting qb in the NFL, still starts! It is not a direction correlation to the skill of the player, so lets not use that as a litmus test for 'great' players.

exactly. just starting games does not make you great. dont get me wrong he is a heck of a quarterback and a lot of fun to watch(i am a packers fan in WI so i have watched him play alot) but for all the greatness, way to many time dumb things happened. To often he would play hurt when the team might have been better off with him on the sideline, or make dumb decisions such as all those interception. In a must win game i would take manning any day of the week. <- and that comes from a guy who used to hate manning with a passion.
