It is my understanding that the AMD FX-55 & 4000 939 pross. were very slow to come to market and the availability was slim to none and the mobo makers didnt want to get stuck holding a bunch of hardware late in the quarter. Now AMD has reassured the mobo makers that the chip is plentiful and shipping normal. Therefore the race is on late for 939 boards.

im kind of worried that I wont beable to BUY a mobo when they come out. Iv been waiting for well over a year for a new computer. its pretty annoying rihgt at the end here. I just want the damn Ultras to come out. but I fear that it may be sometime in Jan. before I can actually get one bought. and even then it probably wont be for a good price

First things first: you must have faith in the (NFORCE GODS),a lil optimism couldn't hurt, oh and most important a willingness to (overpay) because i have never witnessed a sought after board or any hardware or fairly new technology for that fact that wasn't overpriced at least for the first 60 days on the shelf. Also note* these boards that we seek so dilligantly are not mainstream they were designed to target a certain group of consumers, hardcore gamers as well as dedicated and curious pc novices. They dont expect to sell a slew of these boards. Thats why later you will see the same chipset on (AGP) boards, to sell to the common end user, who they know is not willing to shell out a huge chunk of loot to upgrade to SLI. Ya see these big companies hire peeps just like you & me for a reason, to keep in touch with reality. They know once you've sampled the high end stuff(you always want more)Like a drug addict, you get hooked.

Great idea for a new reality show! Picture this!

A couple of pallets of various Nforce4 mobos hidden away in an obscure wharehouse somewhere in the 48 states.

A select group of overclockers, gamers, and tweakers are given cryptic clues and a pocket full of bus passes and plane tickets (yeah right!)

The great race ensues! The first to reach the promised land and build a stable system (prime95 for 12hrs) wins $100,000 gift certificate from Newegg and free upgrades for life!!!!

Roomraider, there will be no NF4 AGP variants. NF3 is gonna be the only AGP chipset for A64. There may be some updates, with new stuff like SATA-II, etc, but no NF4. Anyways, I think Asus is well aware that if they release the SLI mobo first, many people will pay the extra just to not have to wait for the ultras and vanillas. I can't imagine that Asus is under the impression that they will have trouble selling the boards. I think they are just gonna try and milk $200+ from as many people as possible.

Sympathy to Toomraider. I'm sitting on a whole set of new hardware, just waiting for the mobo. Right now I got 600gb in HDs, 1gb ram, new aluminum case, blah, blah blah. Anyone care to recommend a good PCI-E video card at a reasonable price? Can't go to the high end unless I go into crime.

I'm also waiting for the asus nforce 4 board.
Does anyone know if the 6600 gt's work with the Zalman or Arctic silencer heatsinks? Some of the reviews on the 6600 I've read mentioned noisy fans.

Why did you buy registered memory? Isn't that just needed on Socket 940 boards?

Jiffylube I decided on that memory because the FX55 seems to need registered sticks and who knows what will happen with that gigabyte board whenever i get it in my hands. Not taking any chances.

The key word here folks is "pre-order" If you read my post you will see, I said this is the only store thats shipping that board no "pre-order" meaning it can be in your hands by the end of this week. now you see thats why the price is what it is.
